growing commercial bank offering a variety of innovative products and services.
DFCU Limited was started by the Commonwealth Development Corporation (CDC) of the
United Kingdom and the Government of Uganda through the Uganda Development
Corporation (UDC) under the name of Development Finance Company of Uganda
Limited. Later restructuring brought in DEG (of Germany) and International
Finance Corporation (IFC) as equal partners with CDC and UDC, each having a 25%
stake in the company. Its objective was to support long-term development
projects whose financing needs and risk did not appeal to the then existing
financial commercial lending institutions.

Job Summary:   The Manager – Management Reporting will
effectively implement the Bank’s accounting policies and provide timely,
accurate, relevant and reliable management information. The incumbent will
enhance quality decision making through value adding investment appraisals,
post investment reviews, predictive modeling, trends and scenario analysis.
He/she will support the strategic decision-making process of the Bank through
the preparation of annual budgets and forecasts in line with the strategic
objectives of the Bank.

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Prepare Bank and consolidated monthly
    management accounts and Board pack by the 7th working day of the month.
  • Predictive modelling to enhance
    management and Board decision making in strategy implementation.
  • Value addition through in-depth analysis
    on Non-Interest Income, business reporting in terms of transfer pricing,
    branch profitability and profitability by product.
  • Close monitoring of portfolio Vs
    interest income by product and currency to ensure interest is correctly
    being accrued and booked.
  • Focus on Non-Interest Income through
    close monitoring of activity fees Vs customer numbers / transaction
    volumes to ensure all Non-Interest Income is correctly captured and
    charged.
  • Enhance analysis of trends in revenues by
    product and business segments to inform management and business teams
    accordingly.
  • Monitor daily performance and the
    revenue assurance model to promptly identify and rectify any anomalies.
    Embed a “no surprises” quality in management reporting.
  • Close tracking of and reporting on
    debits to income, loan loss provisions by product / segment, recoveries Vs
    product and recoveries on the managed book to identify key trends and
    inform the business accordingly.
  • Hold the lead role in the preparation of
    annual budgets and forecasts in line with the strategic objectives.
  • Supervision of Business Analysts to
    ensure that they are in constant liaison with the business and are the
    first point of contact on the interpretation of financial information.
  • In-depth Management reporting updated in
    line with Management and Board requirements, to provide detailed analysis
    and understanding of revenue and cost patterns.
  • Monitor competitor activities which
    includes reporting on comparative analysis of market data.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The applicant for the DFCU Bank Manager
    – Management Reporting job placement must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in
    Accounting or Finance.
  • Fully qualified in accounting profession
    with a recognized institute (ACCA, CPA, CIMA)
  • A minimum of six years’ working
    experience.
  • Industry knowledge of the banking
    sector, knowledge of IFRS and Ugandan tax legislation, and Financial
    Institutions Act (FIA) 2004 and Amendments.
  • Fluency in spoken and written English.
  • Strong team management and Development
    skills.
  • Ability to work with others even when
    they do not report to you.
  • Computer literacy with excellent use MS
    Office.
  • Strong analytical and numeracy skills.
  • Good communication, negotiation and
    interpersonal skills.
  • Proactive self-starter able to work under
    own initiative.
