Mengo Hospital was
founded in 1897 in Kampala, and is the oldest hospital in Uganda. It currently
serves as an urban community hospital that provides modern medical care. Mengo
Hospital provides comprehensive care including radiology, obstetrics,
dentistry, orthopedics, and surgery. Additionally, Mengo Hospital provides
critical training and education to health professionals through its various
programs in midwifery and nursing, health sciences, and laboratory technology.
Mengo Hospital also has a dedicated research and development team that works to
find new solutions to health issues in Uganda.
Job Summary: The Human Resource Officer will be charged
with supporting the Human Resource Manager in management of Human Resource
processes of Planning, talent acquisition, development, motivation, maintenance
and exit Management. The holder will recruit, support and develop talent
through developing policies and managing procedures. Role holder will also be
responsible for administrative tasks that will improve the efficiency of the
Human Resource function in Mengo Hospital.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Be actively in Human Resource planning to adopt best practices for
effective management of talent. - Plan, implement and manage the overall talent acquisition strategy
- Provide counselling and support on HR policies and procedures.
- Perform duties such as job description reviews, job posting and
promotion and hiring analytics. - Draw up plans for future talent hiring procedures and goals.
- Create and implement effective onboarding programs.
- Assist in implementing training and development programs
- Be involved in planning for staff motivation, so as to mitigate staff
attrition. - Be involved in Human resource administration and feedback programs
to staff and HR office clients. - Perform human resource tasks on rotational basis with other members
of the HR team.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant must hold Degree qualifications in Human Resource
Management, Psychology, SWSA, Development studies, or other related
courses. - A post graduate training in Human Resource Management is an
essential requirement - At least three years of experience in human resource management
practice preferably in health industry - Broad knowledge of Uganda Employment Laws, HR functions and
implementation strategies - Computer literacy with proficiency in MS office and knowledge of
HRMIS is a plus - Outstanding organizational and time-management abilities
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Problem solving and decision making aptitude
- Strong work ethics, flexibility and reliability
