About US:

Ministry of Water
and Environment with the support from Adaptation Fund is executing a project on
Enhancing Resilience of Communities to Climate Change through Catchment Based
Integrated Management of Water and Related Resources in Uganda (EURECCCA). The
project started in May, 2017 and will be completed by October, 2021. It is
implemented in 3 catchments of Aswa in Upper Nile Water Management Zone (WMZ),
Awoja in Kyoga Water Management Zone and Maziba in Victoria Water Management
Zone.

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Coordinate the preparation and implementation of various training
    events in the catchment and ensure harmonization to avoid conflicts.
  • Coordinate the training activities under the demonstration site and
    ensure that the various trainings in there are well coordinated and
    implemented.
  • Supervise consultants and contractors implementing various project
    activities and ensure that capacity development aspects are given adequate
    consideration.
  • Advise and make appropriate recommendations to the project
    management team on identified project capacity building needs and
    strategies and operational problems through reports, review meetings and
    site visits
  • Monitor the progress of project capacity building activities to
    ensure adherence to set standards and specifications and agreed
    implementation time schedules
  • In liaison with the sector capacity Development office, prepare and
    carry out awareness and training to project stakeholders on issues related
    to catchment based water resources management
  • In liaison with the Social Development Officer and other officers,
    organise training and awareness raising events for communities ensuring
    their involvement in and ownership of catchment based integrated water
    resources management interventions in the project area Ensure the
    integration of training activities during the project implementation and
  • Management
  • Collaborate with local governments, NGOs and other actors to ensure
    efficiency and effectiveness in planning, development and management of
    training and awareness raising activities during the project
    implementation.
  • Participate in preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual project
    work plans and progress reports.
  • Any other duties as may be assigned by the supervisors.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 

  • The applicant must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences,
    Development Studies or its equivalent from a recognised University A post
    graduate degree in capacity development or any related field is an added
    advantage.
  • A minimum of six years of general experience in capacity
    development, awareness raising, engagement and training of various
    stakeholders.
  • Experience in conducting training of trainers will be an added
    advantage
  • Extensive knowledge in environmental and social safeguards
    management and Gender issues
  • Excellent technical skills in communication and stakeholder
    engagement
  • Knowledge of at least one local language spoken in the project area
    is a must.
