Job Summary:
The Auto Electrician will be tasked with troubleshooting, repairing and/or
upgrading the vehicle’s electrical system as well as other electrical devices
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Troubleshooting, repairing and/or
upgrading the vehicle’s electrical system as well as the other electrical
devices - Using laptop or hand-held device
connected to an engine’s electronic control unit to do fault finding - Checking and testing wiring and parts in
older vehicles using portable instruments (non electronic vehicles) - Researching and rectify faults, using
manufacturers’ circuit diagrams and specification manuals - Service, identify and repair faults or
replace faulty parts - Install and maintain electrically
operated accessories - Adjust engine control systems and timing
to make sure vehicles are running at peak performance - Rebuilds electrical units, such as
starters, generators and alternators
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

Auto Electrician job must hold a qualification in Automotive Electrical
Engineering or related qualification - At least three years of experience as an
Auto Electrician - Must have prior work experience on
diagnostic equipment with excellent problem solving and fault finding
skills - Must have good eyesight, colour vision
and good hind-eye coordination - Must be able to approach work in a
systematic and thorough way - Must be able to keep up to date with
technological changes - Must be able to work within a team
