Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Ensures that Health, Safety, Environment and Quality standards and
    Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point procedures and regulations are
    adhered to and implemented by all shop dealers and suppliers.
  • Disseminates information and ensures compliance with hygiene
    management methods for shops.
  • Develops product categories in terms of range optimisation,
    turnover, margins and planograms.
  • Formulate strategies to improve the overall shop performance.
  • Negotiates supply contracts with third parties for centralised
    supply, rebates, competitive pricing, and marketing support and ensures
    contract terms are respected.
  • Manages relationships with shop suppliers, holds regular business
    review meetings, and supports implementation of the required remedial
  • Participates in identification, selection and carries out
    performance management of shop dealers.
  • Conducts market intelligence.
  • Mentors and trains Field Merchandisers and Retail Territory
    Executives in the merchandising standards and planograms.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
  • The applicants for the TOTAL Shop Category Officer job opportunity
    should hold a Bachelor of Commerce or Bachelor of Business Administration
    degree or related field.
  • Three years of working experience in Sales and Marketing related
    field, two of which should involve management of business partners.
  • Previous experience in retail operations or FMCG will be an added
  • Computer literacy skills
  • Hold a clean and valid Driver’s Licence.
  • Ability to work under minimum supervision.
  • Highly innovative.
  • Must be flexible and quick to adapt.
  • Must have a high level of integrity.
  • Must have good analytical, communication and report writing skills.
