About US:
The Uganda Nurses
and Midwives Council is a semi-autonomous Health Professional Regulatory and
supervisory body under the Ministry of Health established by Uganda Nurses and
Midwives Act, 1996(CAP 276) with the mandate to set and regulate standards
training and practice of Nursing and Midwifery professions in Uganda for public
health safety.
Job Summary: The Quality Assurance Officer will assist in
developing, enforcing and monitoring the professional standards in the Nursing
& Midwifery fraternity
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance of Standards in all aspects of the delivery of
Council mandates - Coordinate activities of Health Supervisory Authorities at regional
and district levels - To ensure feedback on recommended courses of action for standards
compliance - To participate in the planning and budgeting process of the
department - To participate in project proposal writing
- Advise on the existing standard operating procedures and how to
improve them; - To participate in inspections to monitor standards in medical
facilities and training institutions; - To participate in local, regional and sectoral surveys to establish
the level of compliance; - To Work with training institutions to review and update standards
for nursing and midwifery training - Write reports on inspections, monitoring activities and making
recommendations to management - Keenly review and propose any changes in the Quality Assurance
policies of the Council - Guide Secretariat on Quality Assurance and control aspects
- Perform any other duties as assigned from time to time, in line with
the position
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The ideal candidate should hold a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, or a
health related field from a recognized University - Training in leadership and management, or Project Planning and
Management or Project Monitoring and evaluation from a recognized awarding
institution is desirable - A minimum of two years of pre or post graduate experience in a
similar or related position in a reputable organization - Experience dealing with Quality Assurance and Control aspects in a
busy organization is an added advantage
