Dairy Development
Authority is a semi-Autonomous Agency under Ministry of Agriculture, Animal
industry and Fisheries (MAAIE). Dairy Development Authority was established
under the Dairy Industry Act of 1998. Dairy Development Authority’s Mission is
“To provide dairy development and regulatory services that will ensure
increased production and consumption of milk, sustainable and profitable dairy
industry sector that contribute to economic development and improved nutritional
standards in Uganda.”

Job Summary: The
Accountant  will assist in the smooth
financial management by ensuring proper disbursement of funds, recording
financial transactions and preparing related reports.

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Recording of financial transactions including cash management,
    banking, inventory, receivables and payables.
  • Process payments on line and otherwise for the Authority.
  • Prepare funds available and expenditure reports on monthly basis and
    as when required.
  • Maintain the vote books for the department for verification.
  • Maintain financial security by following internal controls
  • Maintaining daily accurate and complete recordings pertaining to
    financial transactions (cash and bank) using accounting software.
  • Preparing payments made to respective stakeholders.
  • Prepare payments by verifying documentation and requesting
    disbursements.
  • Managing office petty cash.
  • Follow up accountabilities for money disbursed to beneficiaries.
  • Preparing monthly cash account and bank reconciliation statements.
  • Preparing weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual reports on the
    Authority’s creditors.
  • Performing any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 

  • The applicant must hold an Honor’s Degree in Commerce (Accounting)
    or; Honors of Science Accounting & Finance or; Honor’s degree of
    Business Administration (Accounting) from a recognized University.
  • Level II of professional qualification in ACCA, CPA or any other
    relevant professional qualification.
  • Post Graduate Qualification in a relevant field is added advantage
  • At least two (2) years’ experience in Accounting.
