Rural
Electrification Agency (REA) is the secretariat of the Rural Electrification
Board (REB) established by statutory instrument 2001 No. 75. REA is mandated to
implement Government’s rural electrification programs. The Government of Uganda
through REA is implementing a number of electricity connection projects with
financial support from development partners to meet national electricity access
targets.
Job Summary: The
Assistant Stores Officer will provide support in the day to-day receipt,
storage, issuance and management of storable items. The function is based at
REA Office but also extends a distant depository location, all based in
Kampala. 
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Exercise general control over all activities in the stores both at
    house of hope and Dundas.
  • Ensure safekeeping both as to quality and as quantity of items in
    the store.
  • Maintain a complete set of stores records to facilitate proper
    management of the store.
  • Initiate purchase requisitions for the replenishment of stores items
    whenever the stock level of any item approaches the minimum limit fixed
    thereof.
  • Initiate action for stoppage of further procurement when the stock
    level approaches the maximum limit.
  • Check and receive procured items sent to the store and arrange for
    their storage in appropriate places.
  • Issue the items only in required quantities against authorized
    requisition notes.
  • Check the book balances, with the actual physical stock at frequent
    intervals as an internal control mechanism to avoid wrong issues,
    pilferage, obsolescence etc.
  • Ensure safety and security requirements of the storage facilities
    are commensurate, and raise any measures to address the gaps. 
  • Perform any other related duties that may be assigned from time to
    time.



Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The applicant must hold a Bachelor’s degree in either Stores
    Management, or Procurement and Logistics Management or Business
    Administration from a recognized University.
  • Proven Knowledge of Stores Management Computer spreadsheet Packages
    is an asset.
  • Skills in Records and Information Management procedures and
    standards 
  • A minimum of three years of experience in stores and inventory
    management is required.
  • Good people skills are important.
  • High integrity and accountability levels
