the quality of life of orphans and other vulnerable children.

Job Summary:  The Advocacy and Business Development Manager
will take charge of and coordinate the advocacy, public relations, business
development and resource mobilisation functions of AIC; and to ensure that AIC
has in place appropriate strategies and programs for these functions, and that
they are effectively implemented.

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Up-to-date policies, strategies and guidelines available for AIC’s
    advocacy, business development, research and information functions
  • Plans and budgets available as necessary for carrying out AIC’s
    advocacy, business development, research and information functions
  • Proposals for support to AIC formulated and submitted to prospective
    development partners
  • Resources solicited for implementation of AIC’s advocacy, business
    development, research and information programs
  • Define strategic positioning, brand architecture, communication
    strategy and overall business plan integration for the program
  • Manage relationships with government and state levels to ensure
    alignment of AIC communications strategy with government priorities and
    implementation of strategy
  • Adequate resources mobilised for implementation of AIC programs
  • Proposals prepared for AIC to engage in new programs
  • Implementation of AIC’s advocacy, business development, research and
    information programs well carried out, supervised and coordinated
  • Design and execute innovative on-ground community engagement activities
    like activations, product launches, road shows, events, etc.
  • Strategic advocacy issues arising from AIC operations followed up
  • Awareness created among the communities, other organisations and
    general public, of the availability of AIC services and the need to
    utilise and support them
  • IEC and BCC strategies for AIC effectively promoted, disseminated
    and implemented
  • Partnerships and networking established and maintained with
    appropriate institutions
  • AIC image effectively promoted
  • Adequate awareness existing among AIC staff and the Board on the
    importance of good customer care and public relations
  • Information resources required for AIC services adequately
    available, well managed and effectively utilised
  • Information pertaining to HIV and AIDS, and other related
    conditions, effectively availed to interested parties through the AIC
    resource centres and other appropriate dissemination channels 
  • Publications on AIC programs and best practices prepared and
    disseminated
  • Appropriate behaviour change communication strategies in place, and
    effectively implemented
  • AIC annual general meetings effectively organised
  • Research themes identified and related programs developed
  • AIC staff sensitised on the need to engage in research work
  • Collaborative research work carried out with other institutions
  • AIC research activities well-coordinated and effectively evaluated
  • Research findings appropriated documented and disseminated
  • Reports on advocacy, public relations, business development,
    resource mobilisation, information management and research activities
    periodically submitted to top management

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 

  • The applicant must hold a Bachelor’s degree in in Development
    studies, Social sciences, Mass communication, Public Health, psychology ,
    Post graduate training in Project planning and Management is added
    advantage from UMI.
  • Six years’ experience in advocacy-related work, two of which should be
    at senior level in HIV/AIDS support services
  • Four years of working experience in planning, monitoring and evaluation
    in local government sector.
  • Proposal Writing skills and experience
  • Demonstrated ability to provide technical support to project
    implementation.
  • Should have communication, analytical and negotiation skills.
  • A team player and an effective training facilitator
