About URA:

The Uganda Revenue
Authority (URA) was established by the Uganda Revenue Authority Statute of 1991
and set up in September of the same year as a central body for assessment and
collection of specified revenue, to administer and enforce the laws relating to
such revenue and to provide for related matters. This statute incorporated all
the laws that were in force then regarding tax collection. The new organization
(URA) amalgamated the three tax administration departments that were
responsible for all the taxes collected by the Central Government of Uganda.

Job Summary:    The Officer One Stop Border Post will
perform custodial duties and minor maintenance in order to ensure that the One
Stop Board Point (OSBP) facility is maintained in a clean, orderly and safe
state at all times

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 

Ensure 100% power
availability at the OSBPs to ensure smooth business operations   

  • Respond quickly to all service requests and efficiently repair
    electrical systems
  • Maintain all equipment (generators, air conditioning, pumps,
    firefighting equipment etc) in excellent working order
  • Work rapidly without compromising quality in order to minimize down
    times
  • Perform preventative maintenance to stay ahead of potential issues
  • Troubleshoot all problems effectively, performing quality, lasting
    repairs
  • Log all services and report progress to management

Clean and care for
the entire OSBP facility to ensure itis maintained in a safe and healthy manner

  • Supervise the cleaning service providers and ensure good quality of
    cleaning services in and around offices such as washing all finger marks
    from walls, doors, hardware and glass
  • Keep outside areas including the parking yard and the gardens Clean,
    and well kempt.
  • Make routine inspection rounds across the entire facility to ensure
    there is constant water supply and availability of toiletries in the rest
    rooms to ensure a hygienic environment
  • Continuously highlight areas of improvement for the cleaning service
    providers at the OSBP to ensure prompt response
  • Escalate complicated challenges regarding the cleaning services at
    the OSBP to the Administrative Officer to ensure appropriate measures are
    taken to address such challenges

Report and follow
up the execution of routine and incidental maintenance across the OSBP facility
to keep it in a good condition.         

  • Report damages, cases of vandalism, and any need of maintenance
    repairs to the Administrative Officer for further Management
  • Ensure all locking systems are in good working condition and
    promptly raise the needs for lock replacements with Administrative Officer
    for further management
  • Continuously monitor the lighting system and report any need for
    major repairs and replacements to the Administrative Officer for further
    Management
  • Respond to immediate safety concerns (e.g., facility damage, alarms,
    etc.) for the purpose of taking appropriate action to resolve immediate
    safety issues and maintaining a functioning work environment at the OSBP
  • Proactively advise the Administrative Officer on the any areas that
    require preventive Maintenance; including furniture, terraces, park yards,
    fixtures in restrooms, etc.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 

  • The applicants for the Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) Officer One
    Stop Border Post job opportunities should hold a Diploma in
    Electrical/Mechanical engineering
  • A minimum of two years of performing estates maintenance works in a
    reputable organization
  • Experience in installation and maintenance of electrical systems.
  • Prior experience to electrical works in a reputable Organization
  • Extensive knowledge of health, safety and environmental regulations.
  • Knowledge of procurement laws and regulations
  • Possess thorough knowledge of facilities low & medium voltage
    electrical distribution systems including transformers, MCC’s, generators,
    ATS’, UPS’, etc
  • Possessing good knowledge of the latest NEC codes with ability to
    read and interpret design drawings and specifications
  • Knowledge in CAD
  • The incumbent should be a quick learner
  • Should be observant and able to pay attention to detail
  • Should be quick at decision making
  • Should be a good communicator
  • Should be flexible and willing to work outside the normal working
    hours
