Uganda Wildlife
Authority (UWA) is a semi-autonomous agency under the Ministry of Tourism,
Wildlife and Antiquities. UWA was established in 1996 and is managed in
accordance with the Wildlife Act Cap 200. The Mission of UWA is: “To Conserve
and Sustainably Manage the Wildlife and Protected Areas of Uganda in
Partnership with Neighboring Communities and Other Stakeholders for the Benefit
of the People of Uganda and the Global Community.”
Job Summary: The Warden Veterinary Services will control
wildlife disease outbreaks, carry out clinical veterinary interventions,
treatment and care of wildlife in and outside the Conservation Areas.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Establish a reliable and sustainable reporting and recording system
of veterinary cases. - Investigate and monitor disease outbreaks in the Conservation Area.
- Oversee research related to wildlife health in the ecosystem.
- Conduct intervention and/or rescue of sick, injured or snared
wildlife. - Collaborate with the Community Conservation Services and neighboring
Veterinary Departments in offering veterinary services. - Participate in planning and budgeting for veterinary activities.
- Collect and analyze field data on wildlife health for publication
- Prepare workplans and timely performance reports
- Perform any other official duties as may be assigned by the
supervisor and/or Management.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The ideal candidate for the Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) Warden
Veterinary Services career opportunity must hold an Honors Bachelor’s in
Veterinary Medicine from a Recognized Institution or University. - A minimum of three years of working experience field from a
reputable Organization. - Professionalism
