The Uganda
Communications Commission (UCC) was established to implement the provisions of
The UCC Act 2013 Laws of Uganda with a principal goal of developing a modern
communications sub-sector and Infrastructure in Uganda, in conformity with the
operationalization of the Telecommunications Policy.

Job Summary:   The Senior Officer Public Relations will
implement public relations strategies aiming at promotion and management of the
Commission’s corporate image among the public in line with the Commission
mandate.

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • To implement public relations strategies, external communication
    frameworks and plan for internal communications programmes and activities
    in line with the communications standards.
  • To prepare and disseminate communication such as press release,
    speeches, corporate publications of events to convey the desired corporate
    image in line with the departmental mission.
  • To plan and organize media capacity building related workshops,
    prepare and monitor press and third-party visits and tours of the
    organization in external line with the departmental mission
  • To plan and prepare participation of UCC at public events such
    exhibitions and maintain monthly logs of media coverage and provide media
    analysis of UCC coverage in line with the departmental mission.
  • To develop and manage the UCC presence online by maintaining a
    strong web-based presence
  • To arrange and manage the Commission’s corporate events, activities,
    and campaigns and provide protocol services
  • Implement and review the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)
    Programme activities and organize hospitality and recreational events in
    line with the department mission.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The applicant for the Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) Senior
    Officer Public Relations job must hold a Master’s Degree in Journalism and
    Media Studies, Mass Communication, Public Relations or related area; and
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Mass Communication, Arts or any related
    field.
  • At least four years of post-qualification in Public Relations
    practice in a corporate setting
