Uganda National
Bureau of Standards (UNBS) is a statutory body under the Ministry of Trade
Industry and Cooperatives responsible for standardization, Quality Assurance,
Metrology and Laboratory Testing (SQMT) with the objective of facilitating fair
trade, promoting local industries and Consumer protection. The Uganda National
Bureau of Standards (UNBS) is a statutory body under the Ministry of Trade,
Industry and Co-operatives established by the UNBS Act Cap 327 and became
operational in 1989. It is governed by the National Standards Council and
headed by the Executive Director who is responsible for the day-to-day
operation of UNBS.

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 

·        
Undertake
property status reviews to establish their state and propose maintenance
programs for all UNBS facilities and equipment

·        
Solicit
and coordinate maintenance contractors to ensure proper handling of works on
facilities and equipment’s

·        
Maintain
a database of all works so as to have timely maintenance schedules

·        
Monitor
performance of service contractors and record performance against specified
standards

·        
Participate
in the planning, development and monitoring of premises services and
supervision, training and appraisal of caretaking/cleaning staff and
contractors

·        
Oversee
and supervise the survey and measure of property for valuation purposes     in connection with purchase, or disposal of
the property or equipment

·        
Propose
effective support and maintenance arrangements and regularly review them using
internal resources and external contractors where appropriate

·        
Ensure
that the buildings are maintained to the highest possible standards at all
times and that the building infrastructure and fabric are robustly protected
and cared for

·        
Ensure
regular emergency equipment checks including fire and intruder alarms,
emergency lighting and fire extinguishers are completed

·        
Work in
close liaison with the Regional Administrators regularly report on the state of
staffing accommodation to ensure a safe working environment for regional
officers

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 

·        
The
applicant for the UNBS Senior Estates Management Officer job opportunity should
hold a post graduate qualification in Engineering field or project planning and
management from a recognized University/Institution

·        
Possession
of Honours degree in Electrical Engineering or Civil Engineering from a
recognized University/Institution

·        
Higher
Diploma in Electrical Engineering or Civil Engineering from a recognized
University/Institution

·        
A
minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in property
Management preferably in a reputable organisation

·        
Ability
to find creative solutions to estates problems and deliver solutions within
tight constraints.

·        
Strong
influential and negotiating skills.

·        
Ability
to communicate with colleagues at all levels, with appropriate tact, diplomacy
and sensitivity.

·        
Strong
presentation skills.

·        
Excellent
numeracy and highly effective analytical abilities.

·        
Proven
project management skills.

·        
The
successful candidate must have a high level of integrity and professionalism,
Communication, Teamwork and Analytical skills and needs to be a team player, an
excellent communicator with good oral communication and presentation skills.

·        
Age: Between 30 and 45 years
