Accessible Health Communication and Education (PACE) is a local health
non-governmental organization and remains an affiliate of PSI. PACE is an
innovative, efficient and impact-oriented organization that works towards
realizing a community of Ugandans empowered to sustain healthy behavior, while
significantly contributing to Ministry of Health in the areas of HIV/AIDS-care
and prevention, TB, Malaria and Child survival, maternal and reproductive
health, as well as access to Safe water.
Job Summary: The Research Officer CM4FP Project will ensure
that all research activities undertaken under the Consumers Market for Family
Planning (CM4FP) project and any other research work assigned is done with a
keen focus on timely results, end-user needs and quality of data. This position
will also work closely with the research agency and the PSI team to implement
all the research under the CM4FP project. The candidate will have a particular
focus on logistics planning, training and quality control and assurance of data
collection activities in the field.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Work closely with the Research Manager to plan for CM4FP research
studies ensuring that all components are being carried out as planned; - Assist in monitoring and managing project budgets including
processing invoices for the agencies and advance requests and settlements
for consultants involved in the research projects; - Provide the CM4FP team members (at PSI Uganda and at PSI) as well as
the RH program team with regular updates on the research activities as
required working with research agency and SIL team; - Liaise with the PSI CM4FP team, SIL management team and IT to ensure
that the end-users are updated on the status of any ongoing projects and
know how to access archived data and reports from a central location
(Knowledge management) - Support the CM4FP team and other program team members by ensuring
prompt and ready access to knowledge and information generated by the
Strategic Information and Learning department including assisting with
development of abbreviated highlights of key findings to be shared
internally and externally in a timely manner; - Work closely with the Head of SIL, research manager, PSI CM4FP team
and the research agency staff implementing the CM4FP and other PSI Uganda
research activities to ensure that proper logistical planning and training
takes place as per study design and work plan; - Liaise with research manager and research agency staff implementing
the CM4FP research activities to ensure the overall quality of the data
collected in the field and ensure adherence to study design and work plan; - Assist in running required data analysis, packaging and
dissemination within the CM4FP as well as other research work; - Provide administrative support to the SIL department.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Statistics,
Demography, Behavioral Science, Population Science or equivalent. - Professional qualifications: SPSS, STATA, MS ACCESS and SQL
- A minimum of three years’ experience in research coordination and
analysis. - Leadership skills
- Strategic and analytical thinking skills;
- Report writing and presentation skills
- Planning and organization skills
- Communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to drive change and innovation;
- Good team player
