Job Summary:  The Manager – Retail and SME will drive
business growth and development in Retail and SME Banking through the branch
network; identify, cultivate and develop business relationships with clientele
from the bank’s segmental market; and directly supervise SME Relationship
Managers and Branch Managers to enable them achieve set individual and Branch
targets.

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 

Business Growth

  • Drive growth of the SME and Retail balance sheet through generating
    good quality assets liabilities through the Branch Network to achieve the
    set sales targets
  • Contribute to the bank’s projected income through growth of the
    Bank’s interest and non-interest income.
  • Drive a team of Relationship Managers and Branch Managers to achieve
    Branch and department targets of assets, liabilities and asset quality.

Business
Development and Support

  • Develop and support business growth initiatives and strategies for
    segmented markets of Retail and SME.

Customer Service

  • Initiate and monitor Customer/Bank contact at all levels for
    assigned clients to ensure highest standards of service are maintained in
    the Branch Network and Business focus areas.
  • Manage customer queries, complaints and other correspondence in a
    timely manner and within set standards for customer satisfaction.
  • Assume direct responsibility for Business Banking process
    improvement aimed at improving the function’s ability to deliver efficient
    and timely service to customers.

People Management

  • Manage resources, both human and material entrusted to the
    department.
  • Carry out effective performance management to ensure both direct and
    indirect reports achieve set performance targets
  • Train, direct and motivate assigned staff in order to assist in
    meeting customer requirements and to increase their efficiency, competence
    and productivity.

Compliance

  • Ensure Compliance of all Retail and SME Business operations to the
    set internal controls, regulatory and statutory frameworks.

Risk Management

  • Establish and monitor a Risk management framework (in line with the
    banks risk framework) for the unit to ensure key risks are identified and
    managed.

Product Development
and Business Intelligence

  • Participate in development and structuring of products and/or
    facilities that may enhance the balance sheet growth and income streams of
    the Bank.
  • Analyse and monitor the portfolio performance so as to further
    develop/structure appropriate products for the customer.
  • Collect and analyse vital data on client’s i.e. annual reports,
    management accounts, interim reports, industry reports and press cuttings
    etc. to acquire in-depth knowledge which will enable you to act as advisor
    to management on all aspects of assigned accounts relations.
  • Sourcing marketing information and monitoring of product development
    and pricing of competitors and assist in development of innovative
    financial packaging for clients, to counter competitive pressure.
  • To act as an efficient back up for assigned back up relationships.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 

  • The applicant should hold a University degree in Economics/Bachelor
    of Commerce or any other business related field.
  • Four years of lending experience in SME and Retail Banking in a
    managerial role.
  • Good knowledge of banking regulations, bank products and local
    business practice
  • Strong marketing skills
  • Solid grasp of lending and credit analysis
  • Ability to network and negotiate
  • Strong decision-making
  • Good computer skills.
