Comprehensive
Rehabilitation Services in Uganda (for people with disability) was established
in 2006 as a private non-profit, non-governmental organization and is supported
by CBM (Christian Blind Mission). CoRSU Rehabilitation Hospital and
Rehabilitation Centre on Entebbe Road provides Orthopaedic Surgery, Plastic
Surgery and Rehabilitation, mainly for children with disability.
Job Summary: The IT Officer will mainly develop, support,
maintenance and performance of all databases; work with the developers and
users of the databases and database applications to assist, manage and tailor
the databases to meet CoRSU needs and requirements; plan and direct the
development and implementation of database changes when required and to ensure
optimum performance from the database sub-systems and related applications..
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
·
To
review, analyze, and create detailed documentation of business systems and user
needs including work flow, program functions and steps required to develop or
modify computer programs.
·
To
develop policies and procedures for database operations, maintenance, security,
archiving and recovery.
·
Design,
install, monitor, maintain, and performance tune Filemaker databases while
ensuring high levels of data availability.
·
Ensure a
secure system by assisting with regular anti-virus and MS Windows security
updates, data backups.
·
Consult
with supervisors to determine business, functional and technical requirements
for specified applications.
·
To
analyze the different department unit’s activities and trends and compare,
analyze against the service standards and best practices
·
Managing
of the Back Office Automation Systems by ensuring proper usage of the system
and implement best practices on usage of these systems to avoid any setbacks.
·
Administer,
manage data collection, usage reporting, and integration and user management on
back office systems. Prepare routine reports (financial, quality, production,
customer service)
·
Continuously
monitor, review and maintain the agreed performance levels necessary to deliver
the operational volumes required to meet the company’s internal and external
business needs.
·
Assist
application users in identifying and describing problems or opportunities that
need to be addressed.
·
Plan and
implement systems design and development projects.
·
Design
and develop users’ manuals and corresponding training programs for new and
existing systems.
·
To
prepare, in consultation with users, implementers, and operation
representatives the acceptance plan for any new changed system.
·
Assist
supervisors to develop tactical and strategic product, services and / or
programs to support the business unit’s goals.
·
Works
closely with the staff to identify and maximize opportunities to use
·
Information
Technology to improve product service and /or program business processes.
·
Suggest
to the hospital best possible applications that can aide it in enhancing
performance and bringing out the best performances out of its employees and how
best possible to publicize it and increase its reach to both the disadvantaged
and potential donors.
·
To
communicate regularly with technical, applications and operational staff to
ensure database integrity and security plus issues escalation to external
support groups where necessary.
·
Run End
of Day operations.
·
Report
for duty on time and perform any other duties that may be assigned from time to
time by the supervisor.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
·
The applicant
must hold a University degree in computer science information, systems
information technology or engineering from a reputable institution;
·
Professional
CCNA qualification
·
Uganda
craft grade one certificate
·
At least
three years of working experience in the area of database administration and
data centre management
·
Experience
in development of a successful long-running applications/ projects
·
Broad knowledge
of: Microsoft windows server 2003, 2008 ,2012, Microsoft office 2003,2007,2013,
wired and wireless networking skills, desktop and server hardware, antivirus
and remote support products.
·
Expose
to VMware ESX and vCenter 4.x and above and WatchGuard firewalls.
·
Cisco
router programing & internet working
·
Bay
networks – TCP/IP, SNMP, FDDI Internet information server
·
Knowledge
of shell scripting and other scripting languages like Perl, Python, PHP etc
•OCP, MCDBA, and Oracle PL/SQL and UNIX certification preferably HP-UX and
LINUX will be desirable.
·
All
electronics hardware repairs and Troubleshooting
·
Knowledge
of SQL and database management Systems is a must
·
Ideally
support in file, mail, web , database and print servers
·
Integrating
secure payment systems
·
Ability
to troubleshoot and resolve network problems, install and operate network
monitoring tools and maintain network documentation.
·
Analytical
& problem solving skills and to quickly assess organizational needs relative
to databases and data center problems;
·
Good
analytical, technical and communication skills.
·
Excellent
presentation and organizational skills;
·
Well
documented procedures for monitoring system performance levels
·
Self-motivation
and the job holder will be required to occasionally work for long hours.
·
Ability
to communicate effectively both in writing and in verbal discussions with
users;
·
Ability
to work independently at any location in an ICT support capacity.
·
Good
People management and supervisory skills and ability to manage third party
contractors.
