DFCU Limited was started by the Commonwealth Development Corporation (CDC) of
the United Kingdom and the Government of Uganda through the Uganda Development
Corporation (UDC) under the name of Development Finance Company of Uganda
Limited. Later restructuring brought in DEG (of Germany) and International
Finance Corporation (IFC) as equal partners with CDC and UDC, each having a 25%
stake in the company. Its objective was to support long-term development
projects whose financing needs and risk did not appeal to the then existing
financial commercial lending institutions.
Job Summary: The Head Personal and Business Banking is
responsible for providing leadership, strategy execution to the Personal and
Business Banking function at dfcu Bank to grow the overall business and manage
customer relationships. In line with overall
Bank strategy they will manage customer segments and multiple distribution
channels to ensure efficiency to grow the asset book responsibly to realise the
business strategic ambitions both in size and portfolio quality. They will also
develop strong cross functional and departmental relationships to facilitate
efficient operational management of the client base.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
•
Provide
strategic and tactical direction to the different business units to achieve new
to Bank business targets
•
Define
performance objectives/standards for the Personal and Business Banking function
and team members in line with the Bank’s overall business plan and monitor
performance to ensure achievement
•
Define
and execute the Personal and Business Banking work plan in line with the
overall Bank’s strategic plan & budget
•
Drive
optimization for the different distribution channels with specific focus on
utilization and profitability
•
Monitor
market trends and competitor activities to benchmark market best practices and
improve dfcu
•
Providing
strong leadership to the team to execute the set goals and deliver results.
•
Drive
customer centric culture, accountability and ownership of service pledges for
execution that meets and exceeds customer expectations
•
Continuously
monitor the quality of the Personal and Business Banking portfolio by reviewing
credit reports and focusing the team on the collection of watch accounts
•
Work
with the unit heads/team to plan/drive and implement business growth
initiatives to ensure that set targets are met
•
Monitor
the branch distribution channel to ensure that it adheres to processes and
procedures at all times to minimise losses due to frauds and forgeries, money
laundering and regulatory compliance breaches.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
•
The
applicant for the DFCU Bank Head Personal and Business Banking job placement
must hold a Bachelor’s degree in a business discipline. An MBA, related
masters or professional banking qualification would be of added advantage.

years’ experience in banking with particular experience and exposure in sales,
service and distribution

years’ experience in leadership roles leading teams in a related field

Relevant
business exposure, experience and acumen

Basic
understanding of cross functional structures and operations
•
Strong
people management and leadership skills
•
Outgoing,
self-motivated, assertive and proactive
•
A
self-driver who is oriented and able to meet deadlines
