About US:

Comprehensive
Rehabilitation Services in Uganda (for people with disability) was established
in 2006 as a private non-profit, non-governmental organization and is supported
by CBM (Christian Blind Mission). CoRSU Rehabilitation Hospital and
Rehabilitation Centre on Entebbe Road provides Orthopaedic Surgery, Plastic
Surgery and Rehabilitation, mainly for children with disability.

Job Summary:   The Pharmacist is responsible for supervising
the operations of the pharmacy, establishing, formulating, implementing and
reviewing procedures relating to pharmaceuticals and medical consumables.
Monitors and supervises on the rational use of medicines. Supervises the safe
storage of pharmaceuticals in pharmacy, stores and in other departments,
ensuring availability at all times of quality, safe, efficacious and cost-
effective medicines and health supplies in the hospital. guidance on adherence
to professional and national guidelines..

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 

·        
In
charge of Administrative and Technical Services of the Pharmacy Department.

·        
Oversee
and direct the work of pharmacy technicians and theatre stores assistant.

·        
Establishing,
formulating, implementing and reviewing procedures and systems related to
pharmaceuticals.

·        
Takes
part in drug procurement and disposal, inventory management, medicines
monitoring, research and licensing.

·        
Reviewing
operations of the pharmacy for compliance with policies, laws and regulations
and controlling the pharmacy’s budget.

·        
Monitoring
and controlling of Antibiotics, Narcotics and precursor drugs according

·        
to the
relevant legislation by ensuring compliance of all procedures relating to
Antibiotics and Narcotics.

·        
Keeps
abreast of current trends and practices in pharmaceutical care.

·        
Prepares
medications by reviewing and interpreting physician orders.

·        
Counsels
patients on how and when to take a prescribed medicine and inform them about
potential side effects they may experience from taking the medicine.

·        
Supervises
the preparation of extemporaneous preparations.

·        
Writes
reports on operational matters, medication usage and budgetary matters, as
required.

·        
Ensure
all staff in the department are proficient to complete their tasks.

·        
Continuous
coordination, and update of the hospital formulary list

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 

·        
The
ideal candidate must hold a University degree in Pharmacy, registration by the
pharmacy board ministry of health and active member of the pharmaceutical
society of Uganda

·        
One year
of experience as a hospital pharmacist.

·        
Experience
in supply chain management, licensing, working in the NGO/Not-for-Profit
hospital an advantage).

·        
Good
computer knowledge and skills, knowledge in excel application.

·        
Excellent
communication, presentation and pharmaceutical care skills.

·        
Knowledge
of local languages

·        
Understanding
of import and export procedures of National Drug Authority
