About US:

The Uganda
Communications Commission (UCC) was established to implement the provisions of
The UCC Act 2013 Laws of Uganda with a principal goal of developing a modern
communications sub-sector and Infrastructure in Uganda, in conformity with the
operationalization of the Telecommunications Policy.

Job Summary:   The Officer CERT will provide support in the
execution, assessment  &
monitoring  tasks in relation to CERT
operations.

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Manage the CERT Uganda Help Desk and raise tickets for all confirmed
    probable incidents;
  • Conduct risk assessment and security analysis on the reported
    incidents;
  • Respond and provide support to the CERT Uganda Constituents;
  • Produce periodic or ad hoc reports of high quality for incidents,
    security threats and vulnerabilities;
  • Develop training modules and technical documentation;
  • Conduct knowledge sharing sessions among other technical personnel
    on lessons learned and new findings; and
  • Ensure compliance with all CERT UG’s policies, procedures, and
    guidelines

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The applicant for the Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) Officer
    CERT job must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/ ICT/
    Engineering (Electronics, Telecommunications, Computer) or a related
    field; and 
  • Professional certification in any related field such as ICT
    security, CISSP/ GCIA/ GCFA/ CEH/ CISA/ CISM is an added advantage;
  • Two (2) years of working experience in Information security or
    relevant field in a similar corporate setting 
  • Information Management
  • Cyber Forensics
  • Extensive knowledge of Computer hardware, Internet applications,
    cryptographic technologies, security risks, threats, and vulnerabilities,
    and risk assessments
  • Knowledge of Computer hardware, Internet applications, cryptographic
    technologies, 
  • Good knowledge of UNIX and Windows operating systems
  • Interpersonal skills
  • Initiative & Innovation
  • Integrity
