Job Summary: The Logistics Officer will be responsible and
accountable for Logistics and Fleet activities for the region.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Carry out logistics tasks within the region, including stores
management. - Analyze fleet related procurement requests, identify service
providers and evaluate information regarding vendors’ performance in the
areas of quality, prices and delivery of goods in view of the
Organization’s best interests; maintain and update databases of preferred
suppliers. - Follow up on purchase order (PO) statuses and keep the head(s) of
unit(s) and respective Project Managers abreast of the estimated time of
delivery or any changes that may affect or modify the pre-determined
delivery conditions; ensure all expected service is received in accordance
with PO specifications, and that all goods are in good condition. - Ensure that appropriate funds are available for purchases; ensure
receipts are received when payment is conducted in cash; and request
authorization from the head of unit regarding bank transfer payments. - Process and provide timely logistics requirements
- Coordinate servicing of vehicles and Motorcycles with the approval
of relevant project managers and the Support Service Manager. - Keenly review the payments for all programs logistic services.
- Review vehicle movement, fuel usage and prepare vehicle monthly
report of the region for approval by the Support Service Manager - Undertake field travel to programme sites to perform procurement and
logistics evaluations and supervise and train field staff, upon the
request of the Support Service Manager. - Represent the organization in the procurement working group,
security and the logistics cluster with approval of Support Service
Manager - Assist with the Oversight usage and maintenance of all progamme
vehicles and motorcycles within the WNRR - Ensure vehicle, fuel request forms are properly approved and copies
filed and innovatively design more tools used to manage fleet. - Oversee and Coordinate the proper usage of hired vehicles at
Response office level - Assist with Disposal of vehicles, Motor cycles and other
organization assets.
Safety and
Compliance
- Boost and coordinate drivers’ defensive driving training and riders’
motorcycle skills development for all World Vision to ensure
drivers/riders safety on the road. - Ensure that WV-vehicles and Motorcycles are safely packed at the
right time.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant for the World Vision Logistics Officer job placement
should preferably hold a Bachelor’s degree in Bachelor’s degree in
Business Administration bias in Procurement & Logistics or Bachelors
of Supply Chain Management - C.I.P.S or equivalent is added advantage.
- A minimum of two years’ experience leading a Fleet team in a
demanding work environment, preferably with an International NGO. - Sound public and negotiation skills along with business acumen
essential, coupled with attention to details, maturity in decision making
and time management skills - A strategic thinker with strategy and procurement and Logistics
experience. - A proactive person with initiative and drive, honest with a high
level of integrity; a team-player with good planning skills - Computer literate in MS Office, Provision system
