Adara Development is
a non-profit organization committed to improving Maternal Newborn Child Health
services in Uganda, by supporting holistic programmes that ensure women and
children have access to services across the continuum of care.

Job Summary:  The Finance Assistant will be responsible for
managing cash (in particular, petty cash), external reporting, and preparation
of budget versus actual for Adara Development (Uganda). You will support budget
holders in planning and implementing their programme activities, as well as,
managing cashflow in order to meet programme needs.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 

  • The applicant must hold a relevant degree in business, accounting or
    economics
  • At least three years of hands-on experience in a relevant role
  • Experience managing petty cash and month end responsibilities,
    including journal entries, month end reconciliations and budget versus
    actuals analysis
  • Exposure to working with auditors
  • Sound knowledge of the requirements set by the Ugandan Revenue
    Authority and other relevant regulatory bodies of Uganda
  • Sound knowledge of financial management accounting principles
  • Experience using an accounting software from data entry to report
    preparation
  • Good Microsoft Office skills (Word and Excel)
  • Strong understanding and ability to demonstrate strong internal controls
    and procedures
  • Ability to work in a small team

CPA qualified or
working towards qualification
