About US:

Comprehensive
Rehabilitation Services in Uganda (for people with disability) was established
in 2006 as a private non-profit, non-governmental organization and is supported
by CBM (Christian Blind Mission). CoRSU Rehabilitation Hospital and
Rehabilitation Centre on Entebbe Road provides Orthopaedic Surgery, Plastic
Surgery and Rehabilitation, mainly for children with disability.

Job Summary:   The Enrolled Nurse will provide
individualized patient care to a diversity of patients and make significant
difference in the lives of patients and their families..

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 

• Receives patients at triage, take and enter data in file maker, i.e.
  patients’ history, body weight, vital observations, height.
• Write request forms for x-rays, haemoglobin level, for new patients
  and follow ups.
• Translating for patients where need arise.
• Dressing of wounds, removing fixators from patients, K-wires, using
  the aseptic technique.
• Assisting doctors in the consultation rooms, ushering in patients.
• Counselling and health educating patients and attendants.
• Giving start treatments.
• Directing patients where to go after attending to the doctor.
• Comply with the procedures, regulations, and rules in maintaining
  medical records.
• Maintain the unit clean, tidy and free from infection by following
  infection control procedures and protocols.
• Disinfect and scrub instruments, fold gauze, cotton wool and take
  drums to the autoclave.
• Identify patient care requirements by establishing rapport with the
  patient as well as the relatives.
• Uphold patients’ dignity and confidentiality in all patient care
  operations.
• Maintain cooperative relationship among health care teams by
  communicating
• information, responding to requests and participating in
  problem-solving methods.
• To protect patients and employees by adhering to infection control
  policies and protocols.
• Account for all the hospital equipment in the department and report
  any defects.
• Liaise with the OPD in-charge to request for the required items in
  the unit.
• Respond to any other duties assigned by the immediate supervisor.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 

• The applicant must hold a Certificate in Nursing.
• Registered with the Uganda Nurses and Midwives Council (UNMC)
• Certificate in First Aid and CPR
• Two years of work experience in a general Hospital.
• Experience working in an orthopaedic and plastic / reconstructive
  surgery hospital.
• Previous experience of working in an operating Theatre is of added
  advantage.
• Good computer knowledge and skills
• Good customer care especially when dealing with children having a
  disability.
