University (AKU) is a private, not-for-profit, international University first
established in 1983, with 13 teaching sites in 8 countries. It is a
non-denominational institution open to all, irrespective of religion,
ethnicity, gender or national origin. AKU has offers academic programmes in
nursing, medicine and education for and in countries in East Africa.
Job Summary: The Senior Faculty will primarily be involved
in teaching, research and practice in our programmes. A key focus of this role is
contribution to research capacity building among faculty and contribution to
the development and approval of programmes to Masters level. S/ he also be
expected to serve in the University’s academic committees and participate in
multidisciplinary activities. In addition, they will be responsible for quality
assurance, curriculum development and be actively involved in contributing to
the nursing profession nationally, regionally and internationally.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant must hold a master’s degree in Nursing.
- Be currently registered with the Uganda Nurses and Midwives Council.
- Hold a Post graduate diploma in medical education.
- At least three years of experience of classroom and clinical
teaching experience at an institution of higher learning, demonstrate
expertise in modern and scholarship of learning. - Proven research skills with commitment to research and ability to
mentor junior faculty and build research capacity within the school. - Publications in peer reviewed Journals.
