Job Summary:  The Assistant Librarians (Adult and Children
Librarians) will be responsible for leading the day to day operations of the
Main and Children libraries respectively for NCLN project programming phase
interventions in Nakivale and Oruchinga Refugee Settlements. They will work
with stakeholders and other volunteers in ensuring reading and learning at NCLN
project Main Library is achieved.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 

  • The ideal candidate for the American Refugee Committee (AR Assistant
    Librarian (Adult and Children Librarian) job must hold a Degree in Library
    and Information Science; Community Psychology, Adult and Community
    Education, Community health, Development Studies, Gender Studies or a
    related field.
  • A minimum of two years of experience in Library and Information
    Management or Adult and Community Education.
  • Experience in library management, planning and management of
    development projects / programs.
  • Understanding of child protection systems, community based child
    protection, psychosocial care and support, are added advantages
  • Knowledge of Swahili language is an added advantage.
  • Experience of riding a motorcycle and a valid riding permit is a
    MUST.
