Director of Programmes
Co-operation in Research and Development (ACORD-U) is Non – Governmental
Organisation (NGO) incorporated to work in Uganda as a National NGO. ACORD started working in Uganda in 1979 with
a commitment to attaining peace and reducing mass poverty in targeted
communities. Currently the organization has operations in more than 20
districts in Northern, Eastern, Western and West Nile Regions where in
implements development and humanitarian project in the thematic areas of; WASH,
Livelihoods, Sexual and Reproductive Health, conflict transformation, Gender
Based Violence and climate change mitigation. ACORD has its Country Office in
Kampala and field offices in the districts of Adjumani, Gulu, Yumbe, Mbarara
and Kyangwali.
Programme Coordinator will provide technical, programmatic and administration
support to staff, NGO partners and Local Government structures during
implementation of project interventions. The Programme Coordinator will provide
technical, programmatic and administrative support to staff implementing the
SRH and GBV project in ACORD’s areas of operation in Western, Eastern and
Northern Uganda..
- Coordinate the development and review of project work plans and
budgets - Facilitate the adaptation, design and development of strategies,
tools and methodologies for effective and efficient implementation of
project interventions - Strengthening the capacity to deliver on project interventions for
project staff and other project implementation structures - Development and timely submission of all relevant reports and
communications - Coordinate donor visits to project sites
- Oversee development of project visibility materials
- Attend and participate in stakeholder meetings, and document and
follow up on important actions - Maintain cordial and harmonious relations with relevant district
local government departments, ministries, and national and international
organizations - Participate in identification and development of project ideas and other
resource mobilization materials - Maintain and monitor project plans, project schedules, budgets and
expenditures
- The applicant must hold a BA/BSc in social sciences, gender studies,
or a development related fields. A MSc/MA in social sciences, Public
health, or related development fields is desirable. - Three years’ experience of successful implementation of
multi-district or country level and multiple grants/donors projects with
limited supervision - Excellent knowledge of national and international development
issues, especially in relation to young people, sexual and reproductive
health, gender/Sexual and Gender Based Violence, livelihoods, gender
equality, women’s rights and civic participation - Experience in developing relationships with local government
structures, local and international organizations and development partners - Good communication, interpersonal skills and ability to build
capacity and influence others (staff/stakeholders) to achieve results and
deliver on time. - Ability to effectively multi-task, plan and work under minimum
supervision and within competing tight deadlines - Strong experience in reviewing, monitoring and reporting against
donor contracts. - Strong understanding of project cycle management
- Good computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and
ability to use a variety of social media applications
