MU-JHU Care Ltd
(MUJHU) is a registered Ugandan non-governmental organization dedicated to
providing services and conducting research on HIV/AIDS care and prevention
related to mother-to-child transmission of HIV. 
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
Budget management
  • Work with investigators/project leads in developing budgets
    including projections. Develop, analyze and finalize cost estimates and
    budget proposals, in terms of staff and non-staff requirements as
    requested by the budget holders and make recommendations for budget
    allocations to ensure conformance to budgetary limits.
  • Provides detailed input with respect to resource requirements for
    budget submissions. Conduct data analysis and research on specific budget
    issues.
  • Populate and complete budget information in appropriate
    form/template as required by the sponsor.
  • Combine all the project and other fund budgets together into a
    consolidated organizational budget for approval of Director of
    Administration and Finance.
  • Administers and monitors extra-budgetary resources, including review
    of agreements and cost plans, ensuring compliance with Sponsor &
    Institutional regulations and rules and established policies and
    procedures
  • Participate in the development and implementation of new or revised
    budget programs, systems, procedures and methods of operation and support
    training for staff when new budget procedures are put in place.
  • Assist in the drafting and implementation of budget policies; assist
    in the preparation of other supporting program documents.
Grants
administration
  • Assist/prepare draft grant documents/agreements.
  • Maintain centralized filing system (soft-copy and hard-copy)
    documentation related to MUJHU grants, agreements and other contractual
    documents.
  • Compile and maintain tracking system for renewal or other action
    dates related to grants, agreements and contractual documents and alert
    system for key stakeholders to support timely action
  • Assist Grants & Procurement Manager in coordinating compliance
    in terms of post awards management.
  • Develop and review presentation materials for the Grants &
    Procurement Manager and senior management.
  • Perform other related duties as deemed necessary



Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The prospective candidate must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce
    or Business Management. Holder of ACCA/CPA qualifications or its
    equivalent is highly desirable.
  • Five years of solid working experience in a similar capacity with a
    busy institution with funding from multiple donors including United States
    Government.
  • Experience working with a clinical research institution would
    represent an advantage.
  • Must have proficiency in use of Microsoft Applications (desired
    applications inclusive of Excel, PowerPoint and Word).
  • Familiarity in the use of computerized accounting packages is
    required, specific experience with Navision software would be an
    advantage.
