About US:
The Education
Service Commission (ESC) is established by article 167 91) of the 1995
Constitution of the Republic of Uganda and article 168 (1) sets out its
functions, authority and autonomy in implementing its mandate. The vision of
Education Service Commission is to see “quality education delivered by
efficient and effective education service personnel.”
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Prepare, maintain an update and accurate record of student’s
    enrolment institutional alumna academic/ examination results;
  • Co-ordinate research programme;
  • Co-ordinate, oversee and ensure proper conduct and management of
    internal and external examinations;
  • Liaise with other institutions and colleges on matters related to
    examinations;
  • Responsible for academic awards and certification;
  • Take minutes and provide technical guidance to the Academic
    Committee/Boards;
  • Participate in students selections;
  • Carry-out any other duties as assigned by the Principal.



Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The applicant must hold an Honours degree in the relevant technical
    field offered at UTC Lira;
  • A postgraduate qualification in Management Planning/Administration;
  • A minimum of three years of teaching experience at the level of
    Lecturer/ Tutor in a Tertiary Institution.

Centers of Excellence under the Uganda Skills Development Project and Albertine
Regional Sustainable Development Project in the Ministry of Education and
Sports. Applications should be submitted in triplicate on Education Service
Commission form 3 (1998)  to the
Secretary, Education Service Commission, and P.O. Box 7196, Kampala.
The application
forms are obtainable from the Education Service Commission Offices 1st floor
Farmers’ House, Parliament Avenue Kampala, Ministry of Education and Sports
Headquarters and District Service Commission offices.
Applications should
bear the preferred institution, title of the post as well as the reference
number specified against the vacancy. Applicants should attach all the
necessary supporting documents and recent passport size photographs. Only
qualifications from recognized institutions will be considered. Serving
officers MUST route their applications through their Heads of
Institutions/Departments, who should be advised of the closing date to avoid
delay. Applications that are not properly routed will not be considered.
