Development Foundation Uganda (CDFU) with support from UN Women, the EU-UN
Spotlight Initiative, and the Government of Sweden is implementing a 2 year
Multi-Media- Multi- Channel project called Make Happiness Not Violence! as part
of the Ending Violence Against Women and Girls (EVAWG) Programme. The project
aims to promote favorable social norms, attitudes and behaviors at community
and individual levels to prevent VAWG and improve SRHR in Uganda. While the Multi-Media Multi- Channel project will be implemented in
20 districts in Uganda, the 11 districts will in addition have community level
activities. These are Gulu, Pader, Amuria, Kaberamaido, Abim, Kotido, Kaabong,
Moroto, Napak, Nakapiripirit, and Amudat.
Non-governmental Organisation (NGO) that was formed in 2002. CDFU designs and
implements Social and Behaviour Change programmes (SBC) programmes countrywide.
Project Officers will contribute to the effective management of CDFU programmes
by providing substantive inputs to programme design, formulation,
implementation and evaluation. The
project Officers facilitate the delivery of CDFU programmes by monitoring
results achieved during implementation and ensuring appropriate application of
systems and procedures and develop enhancements if necessary. The project Officers work in close
collaboration with district leadership, structures and networks, civil society
and community based organizations, faith based organization and the media to
ensure smooth and effective implementation of CDFU programmes.
Responsibilities:
Lead implementation of project activities in a
cluster of districts
Represent
CDFU in district coordination meetings at district level
Liaise
with district officials (Community Development Officers, Child and Family
Protection Officers, Probation Officers, District Health Officers) and sub
county leaders in project activities
Supervise
the work of Community Activists and Listening Action Platforms in
implementation of project activities
Participate
in training of Community Activists in SASA! methodology to Violence Against
Women prevention
Participate
in design, implementation and monitoring of mass media, including radio talk
shows, radio dramas, print materials, among others.
Prepare
weekly, monthly and quarterly reports
Document
success stories in the cluster districts
Be
part of the district GBV referral network
Any
other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Skills and Experience:
The ideal
candidate must hold a degree in either of the following; women and gender
studies, human rights, development studies, social sciences, community
development or related field.
Three
years of experience in implementing Gender and Sexual Reproductive Health and
Rights work
Demonstrate
knowledgeable practice of working with districts, non-governmental and
community based organizations as well as government departments.
Excellent
interpersonal communication skills and ability to work as a team.
Good
presentation, writing, facilitation and analytical skills.
Computer
skills of Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point.
Good
programme formulation, implementation, monitoring and evaluation skills
Good
knowledge of Gender equality and gender related laws and policies will be an
added advantage
Prior
knowledge of SASA! Methodology will be an added advantage
Experience
in riding motorcycles with a valid permit will be an added advantage
