About US:
The Agency for
Co-operation in Research and Development (ACORD-U) is Non – Governmental
Organisation (NGO) incorporated to work in Uganda as a National NGO.  ACORD started working in Uganda in 1979 with
a commitment to attaining peace and reducing mass poverty in targeted
communities. Currently the organization has operations in more than 20
districts in Northern, Eastern, Western and West Nile Regions where in
implements development and humanitarian project in the thematic areas of; WASH,
Livelihoods, Sexual and Reproductive Health, conflict transformation, Gender
Based Violence and climate change mitigation. ACORD has its Country Office in
Kampala and field offices in the districts of Adjumani, Gulu, Yumbe, Mbarara
and Kyangwali.
Job Summary:  The Project Assistants will provide technical,
programmatic and administration support to staff, NGO partners and Local
Government structures during implementation of project interventions. ACORD is

submit their applications. The Project Assistant is responsible for supporting
the Project Officer in the implementation of various project processes,
including provision of technical assistance, and monitoring of project interventions
in project locations. This also includes; project quality assurance, reporting
and project development.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Provide support the implementation of projects under the ACORD-UNFPA
    approved project document, budget and within agreed time frames.
  • To contribute in the process of identifying relevant groups and
    organizations that ACORD can work with so that the aims and objectives of
    the organization are achieved.
  • To participate in carrying out assessment of the various groups/CBOs
    for the purpose of identifying their strengths, weaknesses, opportunities
    and threats facing them for appropriate action.
  • To participate in carrying out organizational field work, and train
    the beneficiaries in components that have been identified as a gap.
  • To contribute towards the process of proposal writing for any
    identified project need.
  • To work with the other technical staff members in the periodic
    review and production of ACORD program documents.
  • To attend and represent ACORD in the various relevant meetings,
    workshops and seminars when requested by the manager to do so.
  • To participate in the development and production of quarterly work
    plans, implementation and report writing.
  • To compile and write reports of all activities carried out for and
    on behalf of the organization.



Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The applicant must hold a Degree in any of the fields of; Social
    sciences, Social works and social administration, or development studies.
  • At least two years of relevant working experience on projects
    related to gender/SGBV, Sexual and Reproductive Health, women’s rights,
    youth/young people
  • Knowledge of area of operation and local languages is an asset
  • Able to assess socioeconomic and political situations and able to
    act in a diplomatic way in delicate situations
  • Competence in Windows, MS Office programs and e-mail
  • Highly motivated and with a desire to work with local government
    structures and local communities
  • Experience of working collaboratively with; UN Agencies, OPM, local
    government and NGO partners and a commitment to working through
    partnerships
  • Ability to manage stress, work in large multicultural teams
  • Ability to ride a motorcycle
  • Commitment to and understanding of ACORD’s mission, vision, values
    and principles
  • Capacity building and training skills are a must
