Democracy is a non-partisan Women’s rights organization operating in Uganda
with its head office in Kampala. FOWODE grew out of the Women’s Caucus of the
1994 – 1995 Constituency Assembly (CA) that debated and passed the 1995 Constitution.
The organization’s mission is to promote gender equality in all areas of
decision making through Capacity Development, Community Empowerment, Policy
Engagement and Strategic Partnerships.
Work
with the Field Officers to undertake organizational work at the district level
Organize
FOWODE activities at district level
Prepare
project/activity narrative and financial reports
Represent
FOWODE at district and other stakeholder’s meetings
Maintain
and safeguard FOWODE property at the district level
Contribute
to the organization’s visibility at district level
The
ideal candidate for the Field Volunteer job must hold a diploma in Social
Sciences or Education. A Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences, Development
Studies, Mass Communication and any other related field.
Prior
experience working with an NGO will be an added advantage
Keen interest
in promoting gender equality and women’s leadership in Uganda.
Excellent
command of the English language and the local language of the district
Must be
resident in the respective district
Excellent
computer skills
Must be
willing to commit sufficient time for organisational activities
