About US:
The Northern Uganda
Resilience Initiative (NURI) is one of three engagements under the Uganda
Programme on Sustainable and Inclusive Development of the Economy (UPSIDE),
which is a thematic programme of the Danish Country Programme for Uganda
2018-2022. NURI will pursue enhanced resilience and equitable economic
development in Northern Uganda, including for refiigees and host communities, by
supporting Climate Smart Agriculture, Rural Infrastructure, and Water Resources
Management for 4 years from 2019 to 2022. Geographically NURI
covers 9 districts in Northern Uganda, namely; Arua, Pakwach, Nebbi, Zombo,
Moyo and Adjuman in West Nile sub region and Agago, Kitgum and Lamwo in the
Acholi Sub Regions. A coordination function (CF) has been established to
oversee and coordinate the implementation of NURI.

Job Summary: The incumbent will drive authorized
passengers, transport goods and services (information) and check the mechanical
condition of the NURLDANTDA vehicles regularly and act accordingly in line with
NURI policies..

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensure daily routine maintenance checks of the vehicle.
- Ensure vehicle is in sound condition for safe driving before setting
0H. - Ensure all materials and equipment in the vehicle are properly
safeguarded. - Ensure safety regulations i.e. wearing of seat belts, are adhered to
by you and passengers at all times. - Ensure entrusted vehicle is taken to the approved garage when it is
due for service. - Maintain the vehicle assigned to you in a clean and immaculate
condition. - At all times, obey speed limits, highway code and all laws
pertaining to road use. - Deliver materials and documents while ensuring that all receipts and
delivery notes / invoices are duly signed and returned. - Maintain a vehicle log-book and ensure that all trips are duly
recorded and vehicle status reports are submitted monthly to the FMA/
Regional Coordinator. - Ensure proper and safe parking of the vehicle.
- Report mechanical malfunctions, accidents or thefts, immediately to
the FMA/ Regional Coordinator and whenever needed to the police. - Carry out other official duties as assigned by the FMA/ Regional
Coordinator
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The ideal candidate must hold an Advanced Level Certificate of
Education with a credit in English at O’ Level - A certificate in automobile mechanics is an added advantage.
- A certificate in Defensive driving from an established driving
school/firm is an added advantage. - Experience in driving, with clean driving record of not less than 3
years, preferably with an INGO. - Possession of two or more classes of driving permit is preferred;
DL, CM and CH classes are preferred. - Ability to maintain performance expectations in diverse cultural
contexts, psychologically stressful environments, and physical hardship
conditions with limited resources. - Ability to speak Madi, Alur or Luo for drivers interested in Arua
and Moyo duty’ stations
