Regional Health Integration to Enhance Services – North, Lango Project
(RHITES-N, Lango) is operating in the nine districts of the Lango sub-region of
northern Uganda (Alebtong, Amolatar, Apac, Dokolo, Kole, Kwania, Lira, Otuke
and Oyam). RHITES-N, Lango will increase the effective use of sustainable
health services in the region. The Project is led by John Snow, Inc. in
partnership with African Medical and Research Foundation (Amref), Doctors with
Africa (CUAMM), The Medical Concierge Group (TMCG) and Another Option. The
project will contribute to measurable improvements in key Ugandan national
health indicators (HIV; tuberculosis [TB]; malaria, maternal, newborn, and
child health [MNCH]; family planning [FP]; water, sanitation, and hygiene
[WASH]; and nutrition). The USAID RHITES N, Lango Project, in partnership with
Ministry of Health, Lira Regional Referral Hospital (LRRH) wishes to
re-advertise for the following positions that were run in the New Vision
Newspaper of March 11, 2019. USAID RHITES-N, Lango will facilitate the
recruitment of qualified Ugandans on behalf of Lira RRH. The hospital is a 400
bed hospital situated in Lira Municipality in Lira town with a catchment population
of about 2.3 million people. It is a referral facility offering both
specialized and general services.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Participate in the development and implementation of HIV/AIDS Clinic
    work plans.
  • Offer comprehensive clinical care to patients, diagnosing, treating
    and managing patients
  • Assist the project coordinator to maximize the continuum of care
    between the HIV/AIDS Clinic and other aspects of the program.
  • Participate in the delivery of quality health care to patients.
  • Participate in research activities.
  • Provide information to clients aimed at reducing vulnerability to
    AIDs and other HIV related infection
  • Ensure that the staff adhere to relevant codes of conduct and
    ethics.
  • Participate in training of other workers through regular CMEs,
    mentorships and other in-service trainings.
  • Provide technical support to nurses and counsellors.
  • Participate in quality improvement activities aimed at improving
    service delivery and clinical outcomes.
  • Manages nursing activities. Provides adequate staffing and
    supervision. Participates in and contributes to staff development
    programs.
  • Participate in ensuring use of materials related to HIV/AIDS care
    and treatment, including clinical guidelines, protocols, algorithms, drug
    formularies, training materials, and monitoring and evaluation tools
    Improve adherence support systems.
  • Identifies expected health outcomes. Involves the patient, family,
    and community in setting realistic goals to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Plans comprehensive care that delineates interventions to attain
    expected outcomes. Collaborates with other disciplines. Ensures nursing
    actions are designed to promote, maintain, and restore patient.
  • Participate in improving referral systems and community linkages
    through collaboration with the community in-charge.



Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The ideal candidate must hold a diploma in Clinical Medicine. Any
    added qualifications will be an added advantage.
  • Three years of clinical work experience gained through serving within
    a Government institution or PEPFAR funded program
  • Possession of a valid registration certificate from the Allied
    Health Professional Council
  • Excellent communication or interpersonal skills is a must.
  • Ability and willingness to reside in and work within Lira district.
  • Previous experience in an HIV/AIDS related field will be an added
    advantage.
  • Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills
    Preparing and submitting reports.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook,
    Power-Point)
