Job Summary:  The Retail Business Manager will mainly
develop and monitor the implementation of all Med-Optics Ltd. business
activities, organize and oversee the day-to-day shop floor operations in order
to ensure excellence in customer service, maximize profit and minimize costs in
line with company strategic objectives.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
Strategic Planning
& Direction
  • Formulate and implement policies and strategies for the
    merchandising of goods on the shop floor.
  • Develop and implement plans and budget for retail operations in
    stores and development plans for marketing.
Managing Service
Provision, Retailing and Merchandising
  • Embed and Monitor the implementation of systems in Service Centres
    practice to ensure consistently high standards in presentation, range of
    stock, accountability and approaches to sales through responding to
    feedback from staff, business partners and clients to consistently improve
    services.
  • Develop & maintain profitable partnerships & relationships
    with key stakeholders (Public sector), corporate companies, and community
    based organizations and professional associations in line with Med-Optics
    Ltd outreach and business development guidelines.
  • Monitor the activities of the marketing and customer service unit to
    ensure a satisfied clientele through listening to customer complaints to
    address & resolve their issues in line with marketing and customer
    care guidelines.
  • Develop and monitor the implementation of outreach activities, plan
    and conduct community events, conduct workshops, orientation events,
    presentations and partner with other agencies and outside groups to
    maintain and build the company profile and market standing.
  • Drive the implementation of systems to monitor stock and inventory levels
    for lenses, frames and accessories to determine the need for supply at
    each retail service centre in line with stores management guidelines.
  • Work in liaison with the Managing Director and product selection
    committee, set and regulate product pricing using results of market and
    demand analysis.
  • Ensure the development of planned Service Centre upgrades,
    refurbishment and maintenance in collaboration with the technical services
    and leadership teams.
Leading the Team
  • Develop and maintain a culture of high expectations for self and for
    others, provide constructive feedback while managing staff individual
    development plans as per the Human Resources Manual.
  • Periodically conducting Service Centre performance reviews for the
    Sales Team to align actual performance to targeted performance &
    taking appropriate action, i.e., Training, Mentoring, Reward, &
    Recognition as appropriate.
  • In collaboration with the HRM, plan and deliver the continuing
    professional development for the team and for self.
  • In collaboration with the MD and HRM, recruit and train people of
    the highest caliber to fulfill roles in the team.
  • Lead by example in hands-on involvement in Service Centre day to day
    activity, spending at least 50% of time in the centres
Accountability
  • Develop periodic (monthly, quarterly, midyear and annual) retail
    operations reports and submit to the Executive Committee in line with
    company operating guidelines.
  • Review and evaluate operational and financial records for each
    service centre to determine sales performance and customer satisfaction
    level.
  • Carry out periodic assessments of the service centres to ensure
    compliance with health/safety policies and procedures.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The ideal candidate for the Med-Optics Limited Retail Business Manager
    job placement must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration,
    Marketing or a closely related field;
  • Post graduate diploma in Marketing or MBA or proven experience at
    change management and leading business growth.
  • At least five years of professional business management, marketing,
    communications experience, including event planning/coordination, public
    relations, media placement and advertising;
  • Experience of inventory management in a medium to large sized
    industry is an added advantage.
  • Knowledge in planning and implementing an effective public outreach
    marketing program.
  • Ability to work within strict time constraints.
  • Experience in providing efficient customer service.
  • Communicating effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Problem solving skills
  • Market and sales analysis skills
  • A valid Driver’s License and willingness to travel by public means
    when necessary.
