Oil Company Limited (UNOC) was established under Section 42 of the Petroleum
(Exploration, Development and Production) Act 2013 and incorporated under the
Company’s Act 2012. It is a limited liability company wholly owned by the
Government of Uganda. The overall function of UNOC is; “To handle the State’s
Commercial interests in the Oil and Gas industry.”

Job Summary: The Exploration Geophysicist will be responsible for identifying
and evaluating potential oil and gas deposits, using geophysical techniques.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Participate in geophysical data acquisition, processing and analysis
to generate hydrocarbon plays, prospects and leads. - Participate in evaluating and ranking the resources, risks and
uncertainties of the prospects to be drilled and suggest exploration and
development programs. - Assist in planning exploration wells.
- Interpret geoscience data and develop subsurface reservoir models to
determine structural geometry and define drilling targets. - Participate in the estimation and classification of the petroleum
resources/Reserves. - Evaluate Partners’ technical proposals and participate in meetings
with Partners and Authorities, when required. - Participate in the quality control, storage and management of
geophysical data that relate to exploration areas. - Participate in the preparation of applications for petroleum
exploration licenses, and evaluation of geophysical work programs and
other technical proposals. - Assist in the development of operational procedures for E&P
operations and in ensuring that all operations are conducted according to
approved procedures. - Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant for the Uganda National Oil Company Limited (UNOC)
Exploration Geophysicist job placement must hold a Bachelor’s Degree
(Hons) in Petroleum Geosciences or any relevant degree. - Master’s Degree in Petroleum Geophysics or Petroleum Geoscience or
any other relevant master’s degree will be an added advantage. - At least three years of experience in Oil and Gas Industry.
- Be skilled in integrated reservoir modelling. Have knowledge of
Exploration and development operations, Health & Safety standards and
operational procedures. - Hands-on experience in geological analysis and integration software
suites
