Job Summary: The Network Services Manager is responsible
for providing leadership and management of Network Asset Operations including
process for the Umeme Grid / Network operations and maintenance to deliver
excellent Asset performance and customer service.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Development of an Asset Management culture in Umeme that informs
asset decisions from asset commissioning, Operation to retirement. - Contribute to Departmental strategy development by providing
leadership in the planning and budgeting processes. - Provide Leadership in the daily Umeme network / grid operations
aimed at correcting faults, power outages, systems breakdown and power
restorations to consumers to drive company revenue generation. - Plan and provide leadership in driving technical loss reduction
initiatives within Network operations and their execution through power
system investment priotisatization and maintenance works. - Provide leadership in the development and execution of the Company
wide Network assets maintenance plans to improve asset performance and
ensure asset longevity and reliable power supply to customers. - Consolidate and prioritize company wide Network and Power systems
improvement initiatives to inform systems investments aimed at creating an
efficient distribution grid. - Drive the implementation of all Umeme Network operations safety and
environment protection initiatives to protect network assets, staff and
general public. - Enforce and ensure adherence to system operating protocols and
regulation in network operations to drive safe operating practice. - Drive network operations automation through adoption of new
technologies and work practices to improve work efficiencies and network
performance. - Manage the performance and development of subordinate staff.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The ideal candidate for the Umeme Network Services Manager job
vacancy must hold an honors degree in Electrical engineering from a
recognized higher institution of learning. - A postgraduate qualification in management is desirable.
- At least eight (8) years post qualification experience in electrical
power engineering (5) of which should have been in at a managerial level. - Extensive experience in Electrical Network/ grid operations and
organizational business roles. - Relevant experience with distribution / grid technologies including
smart technologies Experience in Asset development and implementation of
ISO55000 - Understanding of IT systems and Enterprise Architecture supporting
business (distribution, customer care, GNIS, finance, security,
regulatory/compliance) - Strong collaborative and consensus building skills.
- Ability to effectively interact with Customers and stakeholders
- High tolerance for periods of extreme pressure.
