Regional Health Integration to Enhance Services – North, Lango Project
(RHITES-N, Lango) is operating in the nine districts of the Lango sub-region of
northern Uganda (Alebtong, Amolatar, Apac, Dokolo, Kole, Kwania, Lira, Otuke
and Oyam). RHITES-N, Lango will increase the effective use of sustainable
health services in the region. The Project is led by John Snow, Inc. in
partnership with African Medical and Research Foundation (Amref), Doctors with
Africa (CUAMM), The Medical Concierge Group (TMCG) and Another Option. The
project will contribute to measurable improvements in key Ugandan national
health indicators (HIV; tuberculosis [TB]; malaria, maternal, newborn, and
child health [MNCH]; family planning [FP]; water, sanitation, and hygiene
[WASH]; and nutrition). The USAID RHITES N, Lango Project, in partnership with
Ministry of Health, Lira Regional Referral Hospital (LRRH) wishes to
re-advertise for the following positions that were run in the New Vision
Newspaper of March 11, 2019. USAID RHITES-N, Lango will facilitate the
recruitment of qualified Ugandans on behalf of Lira RRH. The hospital is a 400
bed hospital situated in Lira Municipality in Lira town with a catchment
population of about 2.3 million people. It is a referral facility offering both
specialized and general services.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Offer comprehensive clinical care to clients and inpatient clinics.
  • Provide information to clients aimed at reducing vulnerability to
    DR- TB and other TB related diseases through health education.
  • Implement QI activities aimed at improving service delivery and
    clinical outcomes.
  • Participate in training of other health workers through regular
    CMES, Mentorships and in-service trainings.
  • Provide technical support to Clinical Officers, Nurses and
    Counsellors.
  • Supervise Clinical Officers and other staff
  • Overseeing the operationalization of the Occupation Health and
    Safety Policy and Guidelines in the unit
  • Keep clear, accurate and contemporaneous patient records, which
    report the relevant clinical findings, decisions made, the information
    given to the patients and any drug or other treatment prescribed.
  • Ensuring adherence to Professional and Service Codes of Conduct and
    Ethics:
  • Participate in ensuring use of materials related to DR-TB care and
    treatment, including clinical guidelines, protocols, algorithms, drug
    formularies, training materials, and monitoring and evaluation tools
    Improve adherence support systems.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of CME, Case
    presentations and other educational activities at the clinic, which
    develop and maintain competence and performance.
  • Participate in training activities of the clinic.
  • Participate in management meetings of the clinic where indicated by
    additional duties
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor.



Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • MBChB degree from a recognized University/Institution.
  • Must be registered with the Medical and Dental Practitioners Council
  • At least two years’ experience in a similar position
  • Should have strong management, communication and interpersonal
    skills.
  • Should have capacity to work as a leader and motivator of high
    caliber professionals.
