Programme (WFP) is the United Nations frontline agency against world hunger. It
is the largest and longest serving humanitarian agency in Uganda. Currently WFP
focuses on three priority areas: Saving lives in Emergencies; Building
Resilience through Predictable Safety Nets; Improving Nutrition &
Mother-and Child Health; and Supporting Small Holder Farmers to Access Markets.
WFP has operations in various parts of the Country.
Analysis/Management – COMET) will perform specialized and/or standardized
policy and programme-related processes and activities to support the effective
delivery of assistance packages.
- Be the Uganda Country Office Administrator managing users, creating
new accounts and disabling those that have left, updating user profiles; - Enter all Field Level Agreements (FLAs) in COMET (including other
outputs) by liasing with the FLA team and Field/Area Office Focal Points - Ensure timely receipt of the distribution reports and enter data in
the COMET platform; - Review the accuracy of the data in COMET and run and analyse various
COMET reports as may be required from time to time; - Support technical units in COMET related functions e.g. other out
put plans, needs based plans, completion reports; - Create/activate project properties (demographics, rations and assistance
calendars), ensure master data is updated and deactivate when no longer in
use; - Responsible for the reconciliation of dispatch/distribution data
(COMET – LESS) and make regular status reports - Develop SoPs to manage access and use of COMET;
- Ensure the Log Frame Other Output, Needs-Based Plans data are
captured in COMET; - Support Field/Area offices including training in COMET for new users
and refresher courses for continuing users;
- The ideal candidate for the United Nations UN World Food Programme
(WFP) Programme Assistant (Data Analysis/Management – COMET) job placement
should hold a Bachelor’s degree in any of the following areas obtained
from a recognised education institution: Statistics, Economics, or related
sciences. - A minimum of two (2) years of relevant working experience in database management functions;
- Working knowledge of any/all the following data management tools:
PHP, MySQL, SQL, HTML, JavaScript. - Good command of writing skills
- Has facilitated communication with technical teams (i.e. nutrition,
VAM, etc.). - Actively contributed to the implementation of programmes.
- Has observed or assisted with policy discussions.
- Programme Lifecycle & Food Assistance: Can facilitate implementation of food
assistance programmes under guidance using basic understanding of
principles and good practices of programme design, implementation and
monitoring. - Transfer Modalities (Food, Cash, Vouchers): Demonstrates ability to facilitate,
under guidance, food assistance programme implementation that deploys full
range of transfer modalities with an understanding of basic principles
guiding modality selection and implementation. - Knowledge of Specialized Areas: Understands basic technical concepts and data andtheir relevance to
food assistance programmes. - Emergency Programming: Displays capacity to provide inputs into the development,
implementation and realignment of high quality emergency programmes. - Strategic Policy Engagement w/Govt: Understands and applies basic principles of engagement with
government counterparts at the national or local level.
