Job Summary:  The Assistant Accountant – ECW Project will be
responsible for capturing financial data into the system
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
Cash Disbursement
  • Reconcile the receipt record with cash receipts and the bank deposit
    slip
  • Prepare and enter Journal entries into the GL for cash receipts and
    inter-company charges
  • Prepare cheques to accompany the corresponding payment – Voucher
  • Stamp payment vouchers and all supporting documents as ’paid’ as per
    the Uganda operation Manual.
  • Enter all transactions into the GL as per Plan International’s
    procedures
  • Prepare funds transfer request for the PU
Record Management
  • Maintain payment Voucher files in numerical order.
  • Proper custody of the embossing machine and paid stamps
Reporting
  • Generate detailed transaction report for program staffs to update
    their PCC forms.
  • Reconcile inter-company charges with accounts at country office

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
  • The applicant for the Plan International Assistant Accountant – ECW
    Project job vacancy must hold a Bachelor’s (Hons) degree in Commerce or
    Business Administration with accounting major
  • Part professional qualification in accountancy e.g. CPA or ACCA,
  • At least two years of working experience as an Assistant Accountant
    in a busy organization
  • Computer literate with ability to work with spreadsheets
  • Experience working with an NGO will be an added advantage
  • Knowledge of an accounting software package such as SUN, Tally, Sage
    desirable
  • Interest in addressing children, family and community development
    issues
  • High level of integrity and accuracy
  • Committed to meeting deadlines
  • Good team player
