Organisation: Save
the Children International
Duty Station: Uganda
About US:
Save the Children is
the world’s leading independent organization for children and has program
presence in over 120 countries in the world and has been implementing programs
for over 90 years. Save the Children envisions a Uganda in which every child attains
the right to survival, protection, development and participation. Our mission
is to inspire breakthroughs in the way the world treats children, and to
achieve immediate and lasting change in their lives. We strive to create impact
for children by delivering our Programmes through partnerships, by being
innovative, by acting as the voice for and of children, and by achieving

Job Summary:  The Emergence Response Manager will lead on
SCI Uganda Humanitarian strategy and help us re-imagine Humanitarian work in
the 21st century. In this role you will provide leadership and strategic
direction on the delivery of Country Office humanitarian responses, with a
focus on the Cat 2 refugee response (South Sudanese and Congolese refugees).
You will lead in the early warning, preparedness and planning for emergency
response and support the implementation of humanitarian responses in SC Uganda.
Your main focus will be to provide SCUG strategic response in close cooperation
with the Programme Development and Quality (PDQ) team, followed by detailed
planning and monitoring to ensure timely, adequate and well-funded activities
in support of the affected population. The job role includes working closely
with the PDQ and Advocacy teams to support donor engagement and advocacy around
humanitarian emergencies in Uganda. You will coordinate and collaborate with
the PDQ, Finance and Operations departments and field units to ensure Save the
Children’s commitment to improving quality and accountability in humanitarian
work is upheld, and complies with all relevant policies and procedures with
respect to child safeguarding, safe programming, health and safety, and donor
compliance. Ensure timely and accurate communications and media contributions
and outputs to support the Appeal or member fundraising and submission
of/quality reports and Sitreps as required by the internally classified
emergency response category and RACIs. This is a fantastic opportunity for
someone who is consistently dissatisfied with the status quo, but enough of a
realist to understand when to drive for change and when not to; to help ensure
positive and lasting change in the lives of the most marginalized and
vulnerable children.
