Programme (WFP) is the United Nations frontline agency against world hunger. It
is the largest and longest serving humanitarian agency in Uganda. Currently WFP
focuses on three priority areas: Saving lives in Emergencies; Building
Resilience through Predictable Safety Nets; Improving Nutrition &
Mother-and Child Health; and Supporting Small Holder Farmers to Access Markets.
WFP has operations in various parts of the Country.
Preparedness and Response Advisor WFP/URCS) will be responsible to provide
technical guidance to support Uganda CO to develop and EPR capacity strengthening
road map.
- Carry out a desk review of key national, regional and global
documents, including WFP governing documents, EPR policies and frameworks; - Undertake stakeholder mapping context and situation analysis on EPR
national interventions and government plans around three workstreams (hazard
analysis and early warning in food security and nutrition; nutrition and
vulnerabilty analysis: humanitarian supply chain management systems;
national preparedness and response including protection assessments,
gender analysis and targeting processes) - To provide an analysis of the current and anticipated financial and
resource commitments of the Government and other stake holders within the
project timeframe. - Conceptualize the framework for UGCO on support to EPR government
plans - Develop a road map and implementation/activity plan for the CO EPR
programmes including government (Office of the Prime Minister) and the
Uganda Red Cross Society (URCS); - Organize validation meetings of the implementation plan/roadmap with
key stakeholders including government and URCS among others.
- The ideal candidate for the United Nations UN World Food Programme
(WFP) Programme Policy Officer (Emergency Preparedness and Response
Advisor WFP/URCS) job placement should hold a post – graduate university
degree in social sciences, development studies or another relevant field. - A minimum of six to ten years of experience in International
Development and EPR. - Previous experience and Knowledge of Uganda context and operations
around EPR - Excellent knowledge and experience in capacity strengthening of
government and civil society institutions. - Flexibility and excellent communication skills.
- Strong analytical, planning and writing skills
- Language: Fluency
(level C) in English language.
