About US:
The Ministry of
Energy and Mineral Development (MEMD) and the Uganda National Bureau of
Standards (UNBS) are under taking the Fuel Marking and Quality Monitoring
Program (FMP) to monitor the importation and trade of Petroleum of products by
preventing adulteration, dilution, contamination and smuggling thereby
safeguarding consumers and the environment in addition to enhancing Uganda’s
National revenue collections. The program is run as a cooperative arrangement
under a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) that was signed by the two
institutions.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepare and maintain audit schedules for initial certification,
surveillance and re-certification evaluation of certification clients; - Review and evaluate certification applications and reports
- Plan, prepare and conduct pre-certification and initial evaluation
of customer’s products, services, production and production quality
control processes at customer’s facility - Conduct evaluation follow up & reporting on implementation of
certification evaluation outcomes - Prepare client files for submission to Evaluation Committee or
Reviewers for certification approval - Acquire market samples of certified products, submit to laboratory
then analyze and interpret results to clients - Provide technical support and guidance to all stakeholders in line
with certification requirements. - Prepare annual, quarterly and monthly budget, work plans and targets
of all activities to be undertaken within the Division
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The ideal candidate should preferably hold a post graduate
qualification in food or nutrition related field from a recognized
University/Institution - Possession of Honours degree in food science, nutrition and related
fields from a recognized University/Institution - Must have at least 5 years of prior experience in Standards, Quality
Assurance, or quality control, Standards Development or Laboratory Testing - Should have completed the approved competence development training
in Certification - Training in ISO 9001 is an added advantage
- Proven people leadership and functional management competencies with
hands-on skills in Risk Management and internal controls in the functional
areas - Hands-on supervisory competencies with capacity to multi-task and
deliver results efficiently with minimal supervision - Age: Between 30
and 45 years
