Technologies Coordinator
Diseases Institute (IDI) is an international non-profit organization which is a
partnership of infectious diseases and public health specialists. The overall
objective of the IDI is to strengthen health systems with strong emphasis on
Infectious Diseases, through Research and Capacity Development. IDI has five
operational areas through which it works to achieve its mission: Prevention,
Care and Treatment; Training, Research and Laboratory services (provided
through a partnership with the Makerere University – John Hopkins University
Core Lab) and Outreach.
the development planning, implementation and evaluations of innovations that
support supply of medications and diagnostics to hard-to-reach areas. They will
be required to liaise between different multi-disciplinary team members
implementing the protect including medical, pharmacy, logistics, pilots,
software developers and field medical staff. They will also need to liaise with
policymakers and other implementing partners at a national and local level.
They will be the lead communication between the core and field teams. They will
ensure that the team adheres to strict timelines in this deadline-sensitive
project. This project will require frequent travel to hard to reach areas
including Kalangala District, Western Nile region and others.
- To develop ideas for logistics supplies for HIV services to hard-to
reach areas in Uganda - To explore and research different mechanisms for providing supply
chain services in hard to reach areas populations in Uganda and lastmile
health including but not limited to are transport land transport, boats - To develop and implementation plan for the project
- To lead ongoing necessary regulatory approvals for the project
- Provide leadership and coordination project in the context of the
facility community framework, working with in charges, implementing
partners and government agendas. - Assist in conducting capacity building and technical assistance
initiatives for quality improvement and assurance. He/she will also coordinate
trainings and on site mentorships on quality improvement and assurance. - Generate and submittal required reports in regard to quality
improvement and assurance - To work with the research team to develop a research protocol for
the implementation . - Ensure minutes of meetings are written and circulated.
- Ensure proper maintenance of project equipment while ensuring that‘
these are serviced and kept in good working conditions. - Any other duties as assigned from time to time
- The applicant for the Infectious Diseases Institute (IDI) Project
Coordinator/Engineer job must hold a Bachelor’s degree in aviation or
mechanical engineering field - Previous experience/qualifications in project management is essential
- Experience in research/medical field would be an advantage
- Experience in logistics /supply chain transportation/aviation would
be an advantage - Knowledge of Process improvement Methodologies will be an advantage
e.g. Lean, Six Sigma, DMAIC - Extremely motivated and sensitive to deadlines
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Excellent organizational skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills‘
- Good interpersonal skills
