quality eye health services. Over the last 17 years, Med-Optics has established
itself as a preferred provider of quality, investigative Optometry Services in
Uganda. Our Customers can always be assured of quality eye health with
attention to detail and follow-up to ensure customer satisfaction.
Job Summary:    The Optometrist will attend to customers by
taking relevant history, examination, investigations, diagnosis and draw out a
clear plan of management, follow up and/or referrals to other specialised
centres, observing all the medical ethics and in line with Med-Optics strategic
objectives and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Conduct assessment and evaluation of the eye sight of customers and
    give proper individualized care and treatment in line with best practice
    and according to standard operating procedures.
  • Provide appropriate advice, health education and information to
    customers and their caregivers on eye defects and health care.
  • Prepare and present at least one Continuous Medical Education
    (C.M.E) topic to all Staff that is relevant for good clinical practice in
    line with the company’s vision and mission.
  • Monitor and maintain patient flow by effectively communicating with
    team members.
  • Maintain High Quality Client Care by reviewing customer complaints
    and tracking complaint resolution in line with customer care guidelines and
    Med-Optics standard operating procedures.
  • Prepare reports and develop activity work plans in accordance with
    the Med-Optics Ltd reporting standards.
  • Educate and counsel patients on contact lens care, visual hygiene,
    lighting arrangements and safety factors.
  • Disinfect and wipe down all equipment and instruments before and
    after use and maintain them in proper working order in line with
    instrument manual guidelines and Med-Optics SOPs.
  • Maintain strict client confidentiality at all times and
    professionalism in dealing with clients and Med-Optics business partners.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The ideal candidate for the Med-Optics Limited Optometrist job
    placement must hold a Degree in Optometry from a reputable institution.
  • Relevant working experience in a busy Optical Centre.
  • Experience in a business and customer care environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of frame style trends and lens types.
  • Principles and practices of records management.
  • Flexibility e.g. ability to adopt and adjust to new methods for
    performing eye health care practices.
  • Analytical e.g. ability to judge and analyse optometry problems and
    solutions.
  • Problem solving approach, action oriented, innovative and dynamic
  • Demonstrated commitment to and experience in teamwork and customer
    service
  • Ability to communicate, negotiate and develop solid internal and
    external relationships,
  • Excellent communication skills (both oral and written)
  • Good planning and organizing skills
  • Patience and positive attitude.
