About URA:
The Uganda Revenue
Authority (URA) was established by the Uganda Revenue Authority Statute of 1991
and set up in September of the same year as a central body for assessment and
collection of specified revenue, to administer and enforce the laws relating to
such revenue and to provide for related matters. This statute incorporated all
the laws that were in force then regarding tax collection. The new organization
(URA) amalgamated the three tax administration departments that were
responsible for all the taxes collected by the Central Government of Uganda.
Job Summary:   The Officer IT Network Administrator will be
tasked with the installation and maintenance of the Storage Area Networks and
its fabrics, Server Farm, Clouds Infrastructure that Supports URA business
Applications as per Service Level Agreement (SLA) and URA business
requirements. The incumbent will be tasked with the administration of the
Enterprise Server and Storage Farms, unified converged Enterprise Systems to
ensure Availability of all URA business Applications.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Tasked with monitoring and maintenance of the Servers and Storage
    infrastructure as per availability requirements
  • installations or in liaison with the provider set up of the
    Enterprise storage, server Farms and unified converged systems
  • Generate reports, with recommendations and submit it to the line
    supervisor
  • Evaluation/Verification/inspection of deliveries as per
    specification and cause action for provider to make good or rebate or
    provide services credits as per SLA/contracts.
  • Installation, Monitoring and maintenance of the URA domain services
    to ensure that all business applications are online 24 hours.
  • Carry out installation as per plan, maintenance plans and schedules
    for the Domain server management team and supervise installations
  • Trouble shooting requests and research into the new challenges
  • Implementation and Maintenance of the technical policies in regards
    to the URA Domain services
  • Generate daily Enterprise domain services reports to the line
    supervisor
  • Administration of load balancer for business servers to ensure high
    availability of applications.
  • Install and maintain the load balancer for all Enterprise Server
    systems to ensure optimum performance
  • Verification/inspection of deliveries as per specification and cause
    action for the provider to make good or rebate or provide services credits
    as per SLA/contracts
  • Monitor and generate Load Management reports and submit to the Line
    supervisor
  • Install and maintain Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI).
  • Installation and maintenance of VDI
  • Installation and maintenance of VDI clients and support the IT staff
    on the ground
  • Monitor and generate VDI reports and submit to the Line supervisor.
  • Verification/inspection of deliveries as per specification and cause
    action for the provider to make good or rebate or provide services credits
    as per SLA/contracts.
  • Initiate and implement activities/programs intended to create and
    improve performance

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The applicants for the Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) Officer IT
    Network Administrator job opportunities should hold Bachelor’s degrees in
    either, Computer Science or Information Technology.
  • Professional certification such as; Oracle specific to Solaris,
    Virtualization and SAN Certifications in known technologies such as Dell
    EMC, NetApp
  • At least three years of experience in Unified Converged or hyper
    Converged Infrastructure, Engineered Systems, consolidation and virtualization,
    in a medium or large size organization
  • Experience in Administration of Oracle Solaris, Enterprise Linux and
    UNIX Systems
  • The incumbent must have good knowledge of ICT Policies
  • IT Service Management standards
  • Relevant network administration manuals
  • Entry level knowledge of high end IT hardware such as interconnect,
    power supply units and mandatory accessories
  • The incumbent should possess an impeccable record of integrity with
    an ability to contain pressure and deliver under stressful environments
  • S/he must have Good interpersonal relationships, a team player and
    customer service oriented
  • S/he must have the ability to work under minimum supervision and
    willingness to undertake any responsibility and adherence to dead lines
