Securities Exchange with over 6,483 shareholders, including high value
international institutional investors. Umeme operates under a concession with a
structural monopoly in the distribution of electricity across Uganda, distributing
99% of electricity in Uganda through a single buyer model.
Job Summary:   The IT Support Officer will provide front
line IT support for UMEME computer users
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Provide second line support services to UMEME IT users.
  • Following up on open tickets and providing feedback to users
  • Managing IT helpdesk reports and escalations
  • Offer 1st line support for OICS Touchpay and ULTIMA
  • Resolve user issues assigned by help desk, in a fast efficient
    manner.
  • Configure new computers, and install software and hardware
    components as required.
  • Report work completed to UMEME help desk, and escalates unsolved
    issues.
  • Participate in IT projects, as required.
  • Update software, patches it and version management.
  • Deliver and maintain IT equipment, in Kampala and up country.
  • Install Anti-virus and upgrades.
  • Evaluate Software & Hardware
  • General support duties and other tasks as required.
  • On standby support for Call Centre and Work Management Centre ensure
    that systems and applications are up and running.
  • Support Lugogo Offices in general, these include Stores, Planning,
    Survey, AMR, Engineering, Safety, Security, CCD among others.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The ideal candidate for the Umeme IT Support Officer job vacancy
    must hold a Degree in IT or its equivalent
  • At least two years’ experience in a similar support role.

  • Accuracy
  • Customer Care Experience/Dealing with customers over the phone
  • Experience of a help desk administration
  • Good Communication skills both written and oral
