Principal Property Management Officer (PPMO)
Corporation (URC) is a body corporate established under an Act of Parliament to
construct, operate and maintain railway, marine and road services both inside
and outside Uganda for the carriage of passengers and goods. As a result of
privatisation of operations, the mandate of URC changed from that of an
operator to that of asset holder, concession monitor and advisor on railway
technical matters.
- Creating building designs and detailed in house drawings using
specialist computer- aided design (CAD) applications and adapting them to
circumstances and resolving any matters that might arise. - Liaising with construction professionals about the feasibility of
designs and potential projects - Working around constraining factors such as town planning
legislation (from governmental departments and legal departments),
environmental impact and project budget to ensure that projects fall
within the all constraints. - Working closely with a team of other professionals such as building
service engineers, construction managers, quantity surveyors and
architectural technologists - Writing and presenting reports, proposals, applications and
contracts to the in house team - Carry out regular site visits, proposed locations and meeting
clients and service providers to discuss project objectives, needs, and
budgets - Preparing and presenting design proposals, including detailed
drawings of finished buildings, renovations, restorations, and remodelling
of existing buildings. - Supervising construction of buildings to ensure projects meet
deadlines, stay on budget, and adhere to the original vision for the
design - Participating in construction project management throughout
implementation - Responsible for creating, evaluating and manipulating designs to
meet the needs of the corporation.
- The ideal candidate for the Uganda Railways Corporation (URC)
Architect job placement should possess a Bachelor’s degree in
Architecture, Design or related field - At least two years practical experience in related assignments.
- Previous experience in architectural works, technical experience
including detailed design and supervision. - Excellent drawing skills and familiarity with design software.
- High levels of creativity and imagination
- Excellent knowledge of design and visualizations software such as
AutoCAD, Civil 3D or similar - Good communication and project management skills
- Shows good leadership and supervisory abilities
