young people in Uganda by placing young people at the forefront of change and
development. Our vision is for all Ugandan youth to live healthy and productive
lives, fully supported by those around them. Our programming focuses on three
core areas: youth sexual and reproductive health and rights, youth civic
participation and youth employment and livelihoods.
About YLA Program:
Chemonics
International in partnership with Restless Development is implementing Feed the
Future Uganda Youth Leadership for Agriculture Activity (YLA) which aims to
increase economic opportunities for 350,000 Ugandan female and male youth ages
10 to 35 years in agriculture-related fields and improve their skills
development (entrepreneurship, employability, leadership and life skills). The
overall approach for YLA is partner-driven, leveraging private and
public-sector actors, vocational training providers, NGOs, youth groups, local
government entities and community associations to reach youth. YLA will
implement an internship program targeting 18 young graduates aged 19-25 years.
The program will equip graduates with workplace skills and practical work
experience necessary for them to flourish in a competitive job market.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Support the M, E & L Officer in monitoring and preparing weekly
    and monthly quantitative and qualitative reports on progress of all
    project activities to the Director of Projects (DoP);
  • Support the M, E, & L Officer to organize and conduct trainings,
    sensitizations and awareness creation on digital financial inclusion
    including the use and benefits of mobile money, and use of renewable
    energy/ solar products among rural smallholder farmers;
  • Support research activities, data analysis, report writing and
    results dissemination;
  • Support project proposal writing, pitching/presentation,
    implementation, and report writing. 

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The ideal candidate for the Restless Development Monitoring,
    Evaluation and Learning Intern should hold a University Degree preferably
    in; Project Management and Administration, Development Management and
    Evaluation, International Development, Agribusiness, Agriculture and Rural
    Innovations, Statistics or Economics, Social Sciences (preferably Gender
    and Development Studies), or related field.
  • Passionate about technology and innovations for agricultural and
    rural development;
  • Understanding of smallholder farmers activities, needs, pain points,
    and opportunities along their respective value chains;
  • In-depth knowledge in Management Information Systems (MIS), M&E
    and agricultural issues;
  • Experience in designing tools and strategies for data collection,
    analysis and production of reports;
  • Proven ICT skills, especially in the use of Microsoft suite- MS
    Word, PowerPoint, and Excel;
  • Expertise in analyzing data using statistical software including
    SPSS, Stata and NVivo.
  • Language Requirements:
  • Fluency in written and spoken English, and fluency in spoken
    languages in the Eastern, Northern and Central regions of Uganda.
