affected by wars, natural catastrophes and/or economic and social crisis. ACTED
has been present in Uganda since 2007, and currently implements its
interventions in Karamoja, West Nile, South West and Northern Uganda
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
Activity planning:
  • Draft and coordinate weekly and monthly work plans and share with
    the field coordinator according to weekly/monthly objectives
  • Maintain relevant files of all activity plans, beneficiary lists,
    and other records
  • Coordinate with group leaders in all activity planning processes and
    ensure maximum participation
  • Consult and coordinate with staffs of other development projects to
    ensure efficiency in resource use and strong synergy in planning and
    implementation for maximum impact
Activity
implementation:
  • Carryout mobilization, sensitization, identification and
    registration of group project beneficiaries
  • Identify, train and support community based facilitators, from
    within the beneficiary community
  • Carry out profiling of all the beneficiary groups and group members
    selected to benefit under the programme
  • Organize and conduct all planned trainings in a professional and
    quality manner
  • Support the tree nursery group executive committees in areas of
    business development, coordination, lobbying and advocacy,
  • Mentor community based facilitators and model beneficiaries in areas
    of leadership, management, good agricultural practices.
  • Carry out needs assessments and communicate any development needs to
    the senior officer while copying the project officer.
  • Support the beneficiaries to fully participate in the cash for work
    activities
  • Ensure cash transfers are made in a compliant manner, including
    following up with all beneficiaries, liaising with project manager and
    supporting all methods used to mitigate fraud
Reporting:
  • Compile and submit quality daily, weekly and monthly reports in a
    timely manner.
  • Provide briefs of all external engagements including meetings and
    other functions
  • Document best practices, success stories and share with the line
    manager
  • Ensure quality photographic documentation is included in all reports
    (including upload of a minimum of 10 pictures per week onto project
    whatsapp group)
Networking with
relevant stakeholders:
  • Attend all relevant stakeholder meetings especially at the
    sub-county and district levels including coordination meetings, budget
    conferences, etc
  • Coordinate with all other livelihoods working groups/ partners in
    your area of work to eliminate duplication of activities
  • Incorporate documented innovations into the implementation so as to
    improve programme quality and strategy
  • Be effective partnership manager with field level stakeholders
Asset management:
  • Ensure all assets entrusted under your custody are safe and secure
  • Update logistics officer and the senior field officer/project
    officer on state of the motorcycles in use on regular basis
  • Ensure accurate filling and timely sub-mission of log books to
    logistics
  • Ensure data in the laptops are regularly backed up for safety

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The applicant for the ACTED Field Officer job must hold a forestry
    based academic qualification (diploma or bachelors)
  • Demonstrated Knowledge in nursery bed and tree planting activity
    management will be a strong advantage
  • Two years of experience with NGO in similar field
  • Languages fluency in English, Kiswahili and local language
  • Local recruits from Kyegegwa district will be prioritized for this
    recruitment
