Bank Ltd (UDBL) is the country’s only Development Finance Institution (DFI)
established in 1972. The Bank has recently re-positioned itself as a partner to
the Government of Uganda in delivering the theme of its National Development
Plan.
will lead the design and implementation of a vast array of interventions to
enhance environmental and social compliance.
- Make recommendations for Environment and Social risk policies and
guidelines enhancement. - Regularly review the framework tools for the measurement and control
of E&S risks. - Verify and confirm that the system, policies and structures of
E&S are working effectively. - Oversee E&S risk due diligence process in the Bank.
- Define risk indicators and tools to identify, measure, control and
monitor E&S risks. - Research on environmental and social issues and thematic topics that
affect the Bank’s business. - Assess and present E&S opportunities and risks inherent in
potential Bank investments. - Perform regular scenario analyses/stress tests on the environmental
Key Risk Indicators to test business resilience in case of adverse events. - Ensure that the Bank has appropriate and up-to-date preventive
measures as well as measures to minimize the negative effects E&S
risks. - Serving as the internal topic area specialist and source for
information on social and environmental best practices relevant to the
Bank’s investment activities; - Serving as the focal point for interaction with NEMA and other
regulatory authorities regarding status of projects with NEMA’s regulatory
process, including questions regarding categorization of projects and
changes or developments in the regulatory process; - Preparing internal and external briefings and guidance notes on
E&S issues, targeted to staff (internal) and clients (external); - Periodic engagement of Bank staff (in particular IM’s) to identify
potential difficulties encountered in the implementation of the ESMS. - Provide training to staff on environmental and social risk.
- Notifying Senior Management of adverse incidents and accidents
- The ideal candidate must hold an Honors Degree in environmental
sciences, natural sciences, business or related fields of study - At least four years of cognate experience
- Excellent Communication (oral and written) skills, including
Strong report & proposal writing abilities, formal presentation
capabilities - Strong self-drive and self-management
- Technical E & S skills
- Excellent interpersonal/relational skills
- Excellent planning & organising skills
- Integrity and sound judgment
- Strong Analytical skills
