Services (YES) and Welthungerhilfe have been implementing a project named
“Amaani Rwenzori!” in Fort Portal since September 2015. YES, is a
Ugandan NGO which has been in existence and operational since 2004.
Welthungerhilfe is an International German NGO which has been cooperating with
YES since 2011. Amaani Rwenzori! is a Youth Development Centre & Social
Business which empowers the region’s vulnerable youth through work-based
non-formal vocational training combined with life skills and entrepreneurship;
after which training process, the participants are assessed and issued the
nationally recognised certificate known as the Worker’s PAS by the Directorate
of Industrial Training (DIT). Amaani Rwenzori! is part of the Skill-Up! program
of Welthungerhilfe.
- Initiate and support planning & strategy development in the two
project components of skills development and social business - Take lead in coordinating implementation of developed strategies,
render corresponding supervision and produce coherent reports - Together with the Project Manager, provide leadership to the teams
in skills development and in social business units of pottery, fashion,
beauty services, coffee & craft shop etc - Take lead in partner & stakeholder management, coordination,
liaising and networking - Support in fundraising through writing concept notes and proposals
in response to eligible funding calls among other fundraising strategies - Plan, conduct and document meetings and workshops
- Support in marketing of the Youth Development Centre and Social
Business Represent the Interests of Amaani Rwenzori ! in all relevant for
including ‘Skill Up!” workshops (this may - necessitate travelling outside Uganda at least once a year)
- Perform other relevant administrative and organisational development
roles commensurate with the said office
- The applicant must hold a University Degree in Organisational
Development Management, Public Administration, Social Sciences and other
relevant management field is desired - At least six years of experience with four years spent in
‘mid-level’ management of development projects) of working experience with
an INGO/NGO and/or private organisation with social purpose - The ideal candidate must be dynamic, articulate, innovative,
reliable, a team player and passionate about youth and development issues.
- Should possess well developed interpersonal, communication,
analytical and adequate leadership skills - Postgraduate qualifications in the management field are an added
advantage and so is working knowledge of Runyoro/Rutooro to case
communication with the youth, apprentices, alumni, parents and trainers
who are unable to express themselves in English - Be adept in computer (inclusive of MS Office packages) and Internet
use.
